For many women, healthcare doesn’t begin and end with an appointment. It includes the unseen work of deciding what to say, advocating to be heard, and managing the details of their own care.

Released today, the 2026 Blue Cross Women’s Health Study explores this hidden labour and the experiences shaping how women navigate Canada's healthcare system.

Among the findings, nearly two-thirds (64%) of Canadian women have health topics they find difficult to raise with their physician.

Understanding these experiences is an important step in creating an environment where women feel heard, supported, and confident speaking up.

Applications for Built Together 2026 close September 17, and we're still looking for great projects from communities across Alberta.

Just ask the Norwood School community. As a 2024 Built Together recipient, they’re using their grant to create a safer, better playground where kids can play, move and make memories together. It’s a great example of how one community idea can make a lasting difference.
