June is Indigenous History Month — a time to learn, reflect, and honour the histories, cultures, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

It’s an opportunity to listen to Indigenous voices, recognize the truth of our shared history, and celebrate the strength, resilience, and traditions that continue to shape communities across Canada.

Learning is a lifelong journey. This month, and every month, may we continue to deepen our understanding, build meaningful relationships, and walk forward with respect and reconciliation.

In Edmonton, Pride Month always feels like a reminder that community isn’t something you find—it’s something you build together, block by block, story by story, person by person. ❤️

It’s about showing up as you are, making space for others to do the same, and honouring a kind of love that doesn’t need permission. From quiet everyday moments to the energy of the parade, there’s something grounding about watching a city reflect back all its different colours. 💙

Happy Pride Month—to everyone still finding their place, and to everyone helping make space for others to feel safe in theirs. 🏳️‍🌈

Today, we stand together in recognition of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia. 💙💜💚

Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, valued, and free to be who they are — without fear of discrimination or hate. Diversity makes our communities stronger, and inclusion starts with compassion, understanding, and allyship.

Let’s continue to create spaces where every person is seen, heard, and supported. 🌈

Happy Mother’s Day to the women who love fiercely, give endlessly, and somehow hold everything together even on the hard days. 🤍

Moms, stepmoms, grandmas, bonus moms, chosen moms, and the women who mother through love alone — today is for you.

Thank you for the comfort, the strength, the sacrifices, the late nights, the soft places to land, and the love that never quits.

Hope today reminds you how deeply appreciated and loved you truly are. 🌷

We’re proud to share some exciting news, EWPCN has been recognized as a 2026 HR Excellence Team Award recipient by CPHR Alberta.

This award celebrates HR teams who demonstrate strong collaboration, thoughtful planning, and meaningful impact in their organization. It recognizes teams who bring HR to life in a way that supports people, strengthens culture, and helps organizations move forward in a positive and practical way.

Khayla and Tess had the opportunity to travel to Calgary to accept the award at the CPHR Gala. It was a really special moment to represent EWPCN and reflect on the work we have done together.

We were also fortunate to have Megan Vaughan there with us. As this award reflects the work done at EWPCN over the past 3 years, it was very fitting that Megan could be there with us.

While this recognition is awarded to the HR team, it truly reflects the organization as a whole. The work we do in HR is only possible because of the environment we are part of. EWPCN is a place where people are engaged, open to new ideas, and committed to working together. That is what allows us to build meaningful programs, support our teams, and continue evolving how we work.

THANK YOU to everyone across EWPCN who contributes to making this such a supportive, collaborative, and people-focused organization.

This recognition belongs to all of us!

🌊 Spring Safety Reminder 🌊

As temperatures rise and snow/ice begin to melt, rivers, streams, and creeks become fast-moving, cold, and unpredictable—even when they look calm.

Please remember:
• Meltwater can dramatically increase current speed in a short time
• Cold water can cause shock and loss of control within minutes
• Banks and ice edges may be unstable and collapse suddenly
• Even shallow water can sweep someone off their feet

Safety tips:
• Stay well back from riverbanks and edges
• Avoid walking on remaining ice near moving water
• Keep children closely supervised near any water
• Keep pets on a leash around waterways
• Do not attempt to cross fast-moving water

Spring runoff is powerful—always assume moving water is stronger than it looks.

Stay alert and stay safe.
