๐Ÿ’™ **Pelvic Floor Health Matters**๐Ÿ’™

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that supports your bladder, bowel, and reproductive organs. When these muscles aren't functioning properly, they can contribute to symptoms that affect your comfort, confidence, and everyday life.

Pelvic floor physiotherapy may help with concerns such as:
โœ”๏ธ Bladder leakage or urgency
โœ”๏ธ Pelvic pain or discomfort
โœ”๏ธ Pregnancy and postpartum recovery
โœ”๏ธ Core and pelvic stability
โœ”๏ธ Pain during certain daily activities or exercise

Our physiotherapist provides personalized assessments and treatment plans in a private, supportive environment. Treatment may include education, exercises, breathing and movement strategies, and techniques to help improve strength, coordination, and function based on your individual needs.

**Please note: Our pelvic floor physiotherapy services are focused on female pelvic health and do not include treatment for male pelvic floor concerns, including symptoms related to prostate conditions or erectile dysfunction.**

You don't have to accept pelvic floor symptoms as "just part of life." If you're experiencing concerns or aren't sure whether pelvic floor physiotherapy is right for you, contact our clinic and we'll be happy to help.

โ“ Q&A Series: Should I Use Heat or Ice?

It depends on what's causing your pain! Both heat and ice can be helpfulโ€”they're just used for different situations.

๐ŸงŠ Use ice for new injuries, swelling, or inflammation, especially within the first 24โ€“48 hours. Ice can help reduce swelling and temporarily numb pain.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Use heat for muscle tension, stiffness, or ongoing aches. Heat helps increase blood flow, relax tight muscles, and improve flexibility before stretching or activity.

A few quick tips:
โœ”๏ธ Apply heat or ice for 15โ€“20 minutes at a time.
โœ”๏ธ Always place a towel between your skin and the heat or ice pack.
โœ”๏ธ If swelling is present, start with ice. If muscles feel tight or stiff, heat may be the better option.

Not sure which is right for your injury? Our team can assess your symptoms and recommend the most appropriate treatment to help you recover safely.

โ˜€๏ธ The August Long Weekend is the perfect time to get outside, make memories, and enjoy everything summer has to offer!

Whether you're camping, hiking, relaxing at the lake, or tackling a few backyard projects, here are a few tips to help you feel your best all weekend long:

๐Ÿ’ง 1. Stay ahead of dehydration
Warm weather and outdoor activities can sneak up on you. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially if you're active.

๐ŸŒž 2. Pace yourself
It's easy to overdo it when you're having fun. Take breaks, cool off in the shade, and listen to your body's signals.

๐Ÿคธ 3. Warm up before you get moving
A few minutes of stretching before hiking, biking, golfing, or yard work can help reduce stiffness and lower your risk of injury.

๐Ÿฆถ 4. Support your body
Wear supportive footwear and use proper lifting techniques when carrying coolers, camping gear, or gardening supplies to help protect your feet, knees, and back.

๐Ÿ˜Œ 5. Make time to recharge
A long weekend is about more than staying busy. Slow down, get plenty of rest, and enjoy some well-deserved downtime.

If you're feeling sore after a busy weekend, our team is here to help with Chiropractic, Physiotherapy, Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, and Psychology services.

โ˜€๏ธ Summer has officially arrived! โœจ๏ธ

With longer days and warmer weather, many of us are spending more time gardening, tackling outdoor projects, getting back into sports, or increasing our activity levels after a quieter winter and spring.

While it's exciting to jump back into summer activities, doing too much too quickly can lead to aches, strains, and injuriesโ€”especially involving the back, knees, and shoulders.

A few tips to help you enjoy the season safely:
โœ”๏ธ Ease back into activities gradually
โœ”๏ธ Stretch and warm up before physical work or exercise
โœ”๏ธ Take breaks during gardening and yard work
โœ”๏ธ Use proper lifting techniques when moving soil, tools, or equipment
โœ”๏ธ Stay hydrated and listen to your body's signals

Whether you're planting the garden, hitting the golf course, exploring the river valley, or spending weekends at the lake, a little preparation can go a long way toward keeping you active all summer long.

If pain or stiffness is getting in the way of the activities you enjoy, our team is here to help.
