One of the biggest misconceptions about naturopathic medicine is that you walk into the office and leave with a giant bag of supplements.

That is not how I approach care.

I want to understand your health history, your symptoms, your goals and what you’ve already tried.

From there, we can determine what actually needs investigating and where it makes sense to start.

Sometimes that’s nutrition.

Sometimes it’s lifestyle.

Sometimes it’s lab work.

Sometimes it’s supplements.

Sometimes it’s medication or another form of conventional care.

And often? It’s a combination.

There is no prize for making your healthcare unnecessarily complicated.

The goal is to figure out what you need.

For anyone quietly navigating fertility struggles right now:

Your body is not broken.

I know how easy it can be to start feeling like it is when every month brings another negative test, another appointment, another question, another person announcing a pregnancy.

But your body isn’t something you need to be angry at.

There may be things worth investigating. There may be factors that can be supported. There may be pieces of the puzzle that haven’t been looked at yet.

That doesn’t mean your body has failed you.

It means we’re still learning what it needs.

If fertility is something you’re navigating, you don’t have to approach your health from a place of fear or blame.

There is another way to look at it.

Gently.
Curiously.
One piece at a time.

Hormones get blamed for a LOT.

And sometimes? They absolutely are part of the picture.

But fatigue isn’t automatically a hormone problem.

Neither is brain fog.

Neither is difficulty losing weight.

Neither is waking up exhausted after eight hours of sleep.

There are a lot of overlapping systems involved in how we feel day to day, which is why I prefer to look at the bigger picture instead of immediately putting everything into one little box.

The goal isn’t to chase symptoms forever.

The goal is to understand the pattern.

One of my favourite things to do with patients is connect the dots.

Because it’s very easy to treat every symptom like it’s living on its own little island.

Tired? Coffee.

Bloating? Cut another food.

Poor sleep? Magnesium.

Brain fog? Another supplement.

Period changes? “Must be hormones.”

But what if some of those symptoms are connected?

That doesn’t mean there is always one magical root cause.

Bodies are complicated.

But it does mean it’s worth stepping back and asking:

“What is the pattern here?”

That’s where a deeper health history and thoughtful investigation can be incredibly valuable.

Your body isn’t a collection of unrelated symptoms.

It’s a system.

If you’ve been doing all the “right” things and still don’t feel like yourself, I want you to hear this:

It doesn’t automatically mean you’re failing.

Sometimes the answer isn’t another restrictive diet, another supplement, or another wellness trend you found on Instagram at 11pm.

Sometimes we need to slow down and actually look at what your body is telling us.

Your symptoms are information.

Your hormones, digestion, blood sugar, nutrient status, thyroid function, stress levels and lifestyle can all interact with one another.

That’s why I’m much more interested in asking why you’re experiencing something than simply trying to quiet the symptom.

You don’t need to become better at ignoring your body.

You deserve to understand it.

If this sounds like you, this is exactly the kind of conversation we can have in practice.

Still feeling so incredibly grateful after our perimenopause event 🤍

To everyone who showed up — thank you. Truly.
It means so much to me that you took the time out of your busy lives to come, listen, ask questions, share your experiences, and support something I care so deeply about.

These conversations are so important to me because women deserve to feel informed, supported, and heard when it comes to their health. And being in a room filled with women having those honest conversations together was pretty special.

I left the evening feeling so full — and honestly, a little emotional.

I’m already looking forward to the next one.

“But my thyroid labs are normal.”

Okay… but how are you actually feeling?

Thyroid issues can be about so much more than one number on a lab report.

Whether you’re dealing with Hashimoto’s, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, or symptoms that simply make you wonder if something is going on with your thyroid, the signs aren’t always as straightforward as we’re led to believe.

For some people, it can look like persistent fatigue, changes in weight, hair thinning, brain fog, feeling cold, feeling unusually hot, changes in mood, anxiety, heart palpitations, trouble sleeping, or simply feeling like something is off.

And one of the most frustrating experiences is being told everything looks fine when you know you don’t feel fine.

This is why context matters.

Your symptoms, history, lab work, medications, and the bigger picture all deserve to be considered together rather than reducing your health to a single number.

If you’ve been told your thyroid is “fine” but you still don’t feel like yourself, that doesn’t mean you should ignore what your body is telling you.

It may be time to look a little closer.

If you’ve been told your thyroid is fine but you don’t feel fine, let’s look closer.

Sometimes, finding the root cause means taking a few things off the table… literally.

An elimination diet can be a helpful tool for figuring out whether certain foods are contributing to symptoms like bloating, digestive issues, skin flare-ups, fatigue, or inflammation.

The goal isn’t to live on a restrictive diet forever. It’s to gather information about what YOUR body is telling you.

Because sometimes, the answer isn’t another supplement or another quick fix. Sometimes, we need to take a step back and actually investigate what’s going on.

And that’s where the root-cause work begins.

Is it fatigue, memory issues, difficulty concentrating… or could your gut be part of the picture?

We tend to think of gut health as being all about digestion.

Bloating. Gas. Constipation. Diarrhea.

But the gut is connected to so many aspects of overall health, which is why unexplained symptoms can sometimes be worth investigating from more than one angle.

Certain intestinal infections or parasites can occur without the dramatic digestive symptoms people typically associate with them.

That doesn’t mean every case of fatigue or brain fog is caused by a parasite — absolutely not.

But if you’ve been dealing with persistent, unexplained symptoms, sometimes the missing piece is simply looking where you haven’t looked yet.

A stool test can be one way to investigate what’s happening in the gut and determine whether further evaluation is warranted.

If this sounds familiar, a stool test might be worth discussing.

Food allergies and food sensitivities are not the same thing — and understanding the difference matters.

An allergy involves an immune response that can cause an immediate and potentially serious reaction.

Food sensitivity is a different conversation.

And when someone is dealing with ongoing symptoms like digestive discomfort, skin concerns, or inflammation, it can be tempting to start eliminating foods one by one and hope you eventually figure out the culprit.

But there’s a better question to ask:

What is actually going on underneath the symptoms?

This is where understanding the difference between allergy testing and food sensitivity testing becomes important.

Testing can sometimes provide another piece of the puzzle, but it’s not about taking a list of “bad foods” and never eating them again.

It’s about gathering information and putting it into context with your symptoms, history, and overall health.

If you’ve been dealing with unexplained symptoms and feel like you’ve tried everything, this may be a conversation worth having.
