Let’s work together to make a difference in the lives of your loved ones! My name is Sharla Quantz and I am a Speech Therapy Assistant as well as an Occupational Therapy Assistant - it’s great to meet you! I offer support to private Speech Language Pathologists as well as Occupational Therapists, offering them therapy assistant services on a contract basis. I graduated in 2014 from Medicine Hat Co
llege, with my Therapy Assistant diploma majoring in Speech, I have my undergrad from University of Alberta in Linguistics. I have also taught Music for Young Children for 21 years - group music lessons for ages 2-12. I love incorporating elements of music into therapy sessions! I work short term contracts (think: treatment blocks) for SLPs or OTs who may be looking for help once in a while - freeing themselves up to possibly work on more complex cases, or however they would find my help useful for their private practice. I have designed posters for Social Skills classes, designed a registration form for a Social Skills camp, revamped and improved existing registration forms for an SLP, and worked simultaneously on OT and Speech goals for a client. In fact, I believe that the therapist/therapy assistant relationship has some fabulous potential when both partners manage their roles and work as a team. I value clear communication between treatment partners and their families. As some background, my practicum was spent six weeks in an Early Ed program and six weeks at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. I continued to volunteer as a communication partner at the Glenrose for the year following my practicum. I really enjoyed working with the adult population at the Glenrose, as I teach music to young kiddos and liked the change of pace. However, I would be open to working with clients of any age. I have a special interest in rehabilitation and brain injury recovery. I also have experience teaching English online for the last three and a half years, and have been working with some clients online during Covid-19 restrictions. So, the great news with that is, I can work with any speech or occupational therapist across Canada
