When a child is overwhelmed, upset, angry, or anxious, our instinct is often to talk more, explain more, or try to solve the problem quickly.
But emotional regulation doesn’t begin with logic. It begins with safety.
A dysregulated child needs a regulated adult. The way we respond can either help calm their nervous system or add more stress to an already overloaded brain.
