Anita Prysko of Urban Retreat Body & Skincare Centre has been in the esthetics industry for over twenty years. After initially being employed by a salon, Anita developed a home based business and then moved to the current storefront location in the Wolf Willow Shopping Centre in west Edmonton. This business was established in November 2003 and in the autumn of 2019 underwent a renovation to meet the growing demand for esthetics services from Anita and her team. We are now proud to offer our clientele more treatment options, six shiatsu massage pedicure chairs, couples massage, as well as a client lounge and steam room. Urban Retreat employs 10 full-time estheticians, 2 registered massage therapist, laser technicians and 6 client care support personnel. We are extremely proud of our commitment to provide experienced staff, high quality products, competitive pricing and excellent customer service. We have the capacity to host corporate gatherings, bridal and baby shower events, birthday parties as well as seasonal get-togethers. Our peel and microdermabrasion combination is 25% off until October 31st.

Both are done in one appointment. The microdermabrasion uses a handpiece to buff off the dull surface layer, so you see results the same day. The peel then uses acid to loosen the bond holding the dead cells underneath to the surface. Those shed over the next few days, which is why the results keep building through the week after you leave instead of happening all at once in the room.

Peels come in levels: one for congestion, one for fine lines, one for pigment, and gentler options if your skin runs sensitive. A mild one leaves you a bit pink for an afternoon. A stronger one can flake for two or three days. We match the level to your skin and to what you have on that week, so tell us if you’ve got something coming up.

Afterward, keep it simple. Moisturize more than you think you need to, leave anything that’s flaking alone, and stay out of the sun. That's why we run this one in the fall.

What facial is right for you?

It depends on what your skin is asking for right now.

The Essential Facial is 60 minutes of proper cleansing, exfoliation and hydration, customized as we go. The Urban Retreat Facial runs for 90 minutes and includes hot towels plus a hand, arm, foot, and scalp massage, which is why it's our signature.

Fire and Ice is the one for brightness before an event. Bela MD+ goes deeper on hydration and texture.

We're moving from Insight to Mangomint, which means your file starts fresh. At your next visit, we'll ask you to fill out your forms and personal details again, so please allow a few extra minutes and bear with us as we settle in.

After that, it's smooth sailing. Faster booking and rebooking, clearer reminders, and less time at the front desk on your way in and out.
