Turning Awareness into Action: Always Best Care Partners with Not Just You for Annual Blood & Plasma Drive

At Always Best Care of Edmonton supporting health, dignity, and quality of life extends far beyond home care services. Community involvement is at the heart of the team's mission, and this September—during Sickle Cell Awareness Month—Always Best Care is standing alongside local non-profit NotJustYou to help strengthen Canada’s blood and plasma supply.

Founded to support individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease, NotJustYou works tirelessly to provide resources, educate the public, and advocate for patients who rely on lifesaving blood and plasma products. Regular blood and plasma transfusions are vital treatments for many living with sickle cell disease, making donor drives an essential lifesaver for patients across the country.

Representing Always Best Care Edmonton, Owen stepped up to show how simple—and impactful—it is to give back by donating plasma at Canadian Blood Services.

As Canadian Blood Services works toward updating eligibility guidelines, an important opportunity has emerged: individuals who have previously had malaria may still be eligible to donate plasma, offering a powerful avenue for more community members to contribute.

To turn awareness into direct action, Always Best Care is encouraging everyone in the community to join the upcoming group drive:
• Event: Annual NotJustYou Group Blood & Plasma Donation
• Location: Canadian Blood Services
• Date: September 19, 2026
• Donation Window: 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM
