💪 REFORMER TRAINING: PART 2 ✨

Did you know that improving your shoulder movement often starts with improving how your shoulder blade moves? 🤔

In this exercise, Naissa is using the TRX to encourage:
✅ Scapular glide (healthy shoulder blade movement)
✅ Thoracic (mid-back) mobility
✅ Spinal extension
✅ Better posture
✅ Upper body strength and control

Why does this matter? 💙

Your shoulder blades are the foundation for healthy shoulder movement. If they aren’t moving well, your neck, shoulders, and upper back often have to compensate—which can lead to stiffness, discomfort, reduced strength, and even injury over time.

✨ This exercise can be especially beneficial for:
💻 People who spend long hours at a desk
🏌️ Golfers
🏓 Pickleball & tennis players
🏋️ Anyone wanting to improve posture
💪 People recovering from shoulder injuries*
🤸 Those looking to improve overhead mobility and upper-body strength

(*Always under the guidance of an appropriate healthcare professional.)

Naissa doesn’t just choose exercises because they “look good.” Every movement has a purpose.

As a personal trainer, she carefully selects exercises based on your goals, movement patterns, current abilities, previous injuries, and lifestyle. Whether your goal is reducing pain, improving athletic performance, building strength, or simply moving better, your program is designed specifically for YOU.

Because the best workouts aren’t random—they’re intentional. 🙌

🎾 Tennis elbow doesn’t just happen to tennis players! 💪

Whether it’s from golf, pickleball, the gym, repetitive work, or everyday activities, tendon pain around the elbow can be stubborn—and that’s exactly where Shockwave Therapy can help.

In this reel, our Functional Movement Massage Therapist, Paul, is demonstrating Shockwave Therapy on our Physiotherapist, Matt, who’s been dealing with a case of tennis elbow. 👏

So… what is Shockwave Therapy? 🤔

⚡ It’s a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic sound waves to stimulate your body’s natural healing response.

It can be an excellent treatment option for:
✔️ Tennis elbow
✔️ Golfer’s elbow
✔️ Plantar fasciitis
✔️ Achilles tendinopathy
✔️ Rotator cuff injuries
✔️ Chronic tendon pain
✔️ Calcific shoulder conditions
✔️ Other persistent soft tissue injuries

😬 What does it feel like?

Most people describe it as a series of quick pulses or taps over the injured area. It can be a little uncomfortable when treating irritated tissue, but treatments are short, and the intensity can be adjusted to your comfort level.

✨ One of the best parts?

Shockwave Therapy can often be added to your existing treatment plan! Whether you’re seeing one of our physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, or athletic therapists, our team can determine if it’s the right fit for your recovery.

At 4 Points, we believe the best results come from combining the right treatments with the right team. 💙

🔥 WHY DOES NAISSA USE REFORMER TRAINING WITH HER CLIENTS?

Because great training isn’t about finding ONE perfect exercise… it’s about choosing the right tools for the person in front of you. 💪

The reformer is an incredibly versatile piece of equipment that allows Naissa to help clients build:

✨ STRENGTH & CONTROL
The spring resistance challenges your muscles while allowing you to focus on slow, controlled movement patterns and proper technique.

✨ MOBILITY & RANGE OF MOTION
The moving carriage encourages your body to move through larger, more controlled ranges—helping improve joint mobility and body awareness.

✨ BALANCE & STABILITY
The carriage challenges your nervous system and stabilizing muscles to work together, helping you develop better control of your movement.

✨ FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT
From calf raises and leg presses to exercises involving triple extension and triple flexion, the reformer helps train the coordinated movement patterns we use every day—walking, running, climbing stairs, and more.

✨ LOW-IMPACT TRAINING OPTIONS
The reformer can be an amazing tool for clients looking to build strength while managing joint stress, returning from injury, or progressing at a pace that works for their body.

And the best part? It’s not about choosing reformer training OR traditional strength training. 🏋️‍♀️

A well-designed program may include squats, strength training, mobility work, stability exercises, and reformer training—because every body and every goal is different.

With her expertise in movement and individualized programming, Naissa uses the reformer as another tool to help clients move better, feel stronger, and build confidence in their bodies. 🌿

🏌️‍♂️ SHOULDER PAIN AFTER GOLF? It might not just be “part of the game.” ⛳

A powerful golf swing demands mobility, strength, and coordination. When one area isn’t moving the way it should, other muscles often step in to compensate—and that’s when tension, pain, and restricted movement can begin.

That’s where our Functional Movement Massage Therapist, Paul, comes in. 💪

Unlike a traditional relaxation massage, Functional Movement Massage is designed to identify why your body is compensating. By treating muscles while moving the body through specific ranges of motion, Paul helps release tension in a more therapeutic way, restoring movement instead of simply providing temporary relief.

✨ The goal isn’t just to loosen tight muscles…
It’s to help the right muscles do the right job so the others can finally stop working overtime.

Whether you’re dealing with:
⛳ Shoulder pain after golf
💪 Rotator cuff irritation
🏌️ Limited swing mobility
🤕 Ongoing muscle tension
🙌 Or an injury that’s just not improving…

Functional Movement Massage may be the missing piece in your recovery.

At 4 Points Health and Wellness, Paul also works closely with our chiropractors, physiotherapists, athletic therapists, and personal trainers to make sure you’re getting a well-rounded treatment plan—not just another massage.

📲 Ready to get back to your best game?

Book online using the link in our bio, visit www.4PointsHealth.com, or call us at 780-705-5775.

Your recovery shouldn’t end when the massage does—it should help you move better every time you step onto the course. ⛳💙

🤔 IS IT SAFE TO CRACK YOUR OWN NECK?

It’s one of the questions Dr. Cody Sieben gets asked the most… and the answer might surprise you! 👀

The short answer? ✅ It can be okay—IF you’re staying within the natural planes of movement of your neck.

⚠️ The concern comes when you begin forcing your neck into positions it wasn’t designed to move. That’s when you increase the risk of irritation or injury.

But here’s the bigger question…

❓ WHY do you feel like you constantly need to crack your neck?

If you’re reaching for that “pop” every day, your body could be telling you that something else is going on. Tight muscles, restricted joints, poor posture, repetitive strain, or movement imbalances may all be contributing.

That’s where a thorough assessment makes all the difference. Rather than simply chasing the temporary relief of a crack, Dr. Cody works to identify and address the underlying cause so you can move—and feel—your best. 💙

📅 GOOD NEWS!

Dr. Cody has BOTH evening 🌙 and weekend ☀️ appointments available to fit your busy schedule.

🍎 Teachers & Educational Support Staff can also enjoy 15% OFF chiropractic appointments with Dr. Cody this summer as our way of saying thank you! (Offer valid until August 31, 2026 and cannot be combined with any other promotion.)

⚡️ 5 THINGS You Probably Didn’t Know About Shockwave Therapy 👇

If you’ve heard of Shockwave Therapy but aren’t quite sure what it is—or you think it’s just for athletes—you aren’t alone.

There are a lot of misconceptions about this treatment, which is why we’re busting a few of the biggest ones! 👉

💥 MYTH 1: It uses electricity.
✅ FACT: Despite the name, Shockwave Therapy uses high-energy acoustic (sound) waves to stimulate your body’s natural healing process.

💥 MYTH 2: It should never hurt.
✅ FACT: Mild discomfort during treatment can be completely normal because the therapy is targeting injured tissue that’s often been irritated for weeks or even months.

💥 MYTH 3: It’s only for new injuries.
✅ FACT: Shockwave Therapy is most commonly used for chronic tendon and soft tissue injuries that just won’t seem to heal, like plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, Achilles tendinopathy, and shoulder pain.

💥 MYTH 4: It only treats the symptoms.
✅ FACT: Shockwave Therapy works by increasing blood flow, stimulating tissue repair, and encouraging your body to restart the healing process—it helps your body do what it was designed to do.

💥 MYTH 5: It’s all you need.
✅ FACT: The best results often come when Shockwave Therapy is combined with physiotherapy, chiropractic care, massage therapy, and personalized rehabilitation exercises. Treating the injury is important—but so is addressing why it happened in the first place.

👉 Swipe through to learn more about each one!

If you’ve been dealing with an injury that just won’t go away, it might be time to find out whether Shockwave Therapy is the missing piece in your recovery.

You've probably heard some version of “eat before you work out” and “don't forget your protein after.” It's not wrong advice. It's just not very useful on its own. Most people leave that conversation with more questions than answers: How long before? How much? Does it matter if I'm doing yog...

🚨 Lower back pain that shoots down your leg? It might be sciatica… but it might not. 👇

Sciatica is one of the most common terms people use when describing lower back pain, buttock pain, or symptoms that travel down the leg. It typically involves irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve, which can cause symptoms like:

⚡️ Sharp, shooting pain
🔥 Burning sensations
🦵 Numbness or tingling
💪 Weakness in the leg or foot

But here’s the important part…

Not all “sciatica-like” pain is actually sciatica.

Several other conditions can create very similar symptoms, including issues involving the muscles, joints, discs, nerves, or surrounding tissues. The location of your pain doesn’t always tell the full story — and treating the wrong source can mean your recovery takes longer.

That’s why getting assessed by a chiropractor or healthcare professional is so important. 🩺

At 4 Points Health & Wellness, our practitioners look beyond just where it hurts. We assess your movement, strength, mobility, neurological symptoms, and the way your body is functioning to help determine what may actually be causing your pain.

The goal isn’t just to calm symptoms — it’s to understand the “why” behind them and create a treatment plan that helps you move and feel better.

If your lower back pain is keeping you from doing the things you love, don’t guess your way through it.
