With COVID 19 not showing signs of disappearing anytime soon, I wanted to give a reminder of some of the things Bloom Therapy is doing to stop the spread:

•all practitioners fill out a COVID assessment form and record their temperatures at the start of each shift

•patients are emailed a COVID assessment form to fill out 2 hours prior to their appointment and temperatures are recorded upon entry into the clinic

•masks are mandatory for both practitioners and patients

•devices such as phones, laptops, iPads etc. are regularly sanitized

•treatment tables and stools are sprayed with disinfectant after each appointment and allowed to air dry for 10mins

•all other surfaces in the treatment rooms (counters, door k***s, light switches, chairs) are wiped down after each appointment

We want patients to feel as safe as possible while being able to get the treatment they need ✨

Happy Earth Day! 🌎

Today marks day 39 that I have been away from the clinic. Unable to see, hear from, and treat my patients. It has been hard knowing that so many of you could benefit from acupuncture whether you have been struggling with physical pain, flare ups from a disease or disorder, or mental-emotional health, yet covid is keeping us apart.

Something that has been helpful for me during this time of uncertainty is getting outside everyday. It reminds me that even though a lot of our lives look like they are at a standstill, nature keeps going, and eventually so will we.

In Chinese Medicine we recognize that we are all connected to the earth more than we know. Through seasons, climates, animals, food, air quality, all of these factors play a part in how our bodies function. By connecting with the earth we are reminding ourselves where we come from and what sustains us.

Let’s all do our part today in prioritizing the health of our planet for a better quality of life for all.

Happy NYE! ✨

Here’s to taking time for Y O U in 2020 when it comes to mental, physical, and emotional health! Let’s work towards prevention and listening to what our bodies are asking for before we need intervention for a serious issue

Acupuncture needles are so thin that you can hardly see them in this picture!

A lot of new patients can be a bit nervous about their first treatment because of the idea of these little needles. Did you know that the average medical syringe has a gauge of 28.5mm whereas the acupuncture needles I use are only 0.25mm??

When my needles first puncture the skin patients don’t feel anything at all! Only when we insert the needle deeper do we get a ‘de Qi’ sensation that is similar to a deep ache, tingling or warmth - but there’s still no pain!

What this sensation does tell us is that the Qi at this acupuncture point has been activated and will now work towards finding homeostasis.

Time and time again I’ve had patients leave their 1st treatment telling me that they were nervous for nothing!

Now is the perfect time for booking an appointment to give acupuncture a shot! Especially if you have insurance coverage as we only have 5 weeks until the new year!

Had the opportunity to participate in my 1st forest bath tonight lead by .kuchta

It was a group meditation that focused on the healing that comes from stepping back and being surrounded by nature. It was also a great way to destress from the business of life midweek.

At the end, each of us was able to mix our own essential oil in a roller ball to use when we need to be reminded of the grounding energy we experienced tonight. I’ve said if before and I’ll say it again - Plants Are Medicine! @ Kiwi Nurseries Ltd

Ginger!

As we head into the colder months, ginger is an important herb that we can start incorporating into our diets. In Chinese Medicine, ginger is capable of helping to build our body’s immunity against cold’s and flu’s, release external toxins before they pe*****te deeper into the body, and aids in overall circulation. Here’s 3 ways to use ginger as medicine. . .

1. Incorporate either dried or fresh ginger (in moderation) into your cooking to help build your body’s defensive Qi against pathogens
2. At the first signs of a cold, make a tea out of a thumb sized piece of ginger and green onion. Simmer for 10mins in 2 cups of water and drink while warm
3. If you are experiencing a cold or flu, run a hot bath with 1cup Epsom salts and 1/4 cup of powdered ginger. Once you get out, wrap yourself in towels and blankets and go to bed. You will start sweating and this is a good thing! With the sweat, the body is releasing toxins. Sweating once is often enough but if you still find yourself sick, book an appointment with your acupuncturist as your condition has gone deeper than the surface level
