Growing up in Castle Downs, two schools shared more than just a neighborhood.

For kids from St. Charles and Baturyn, the park and basketball court between the schools became a natural meeting place. Whether it was playing together during the school year, dealing with a little friendly rivalry, or gathering with families for summer barbecues and picnics, this space brought the community together.

A look back at one of the places that helped connect generations of Castle Downs families.

The Pride of the North Side is about more than basketball.

It’s about creating a space where young people can compete, connect, learn from one another, and feel like they belong.

Through the Africa Centre basketball program, mentorship happens everywhere, from coaches to teammates, and from older athletes guiding the next generation.

Meet the Team Monday's are back! Starting with our vibrant clinic in Northgate mall. Meet the charismatic physiotherapist Mike Salame! . Mike's treatment style consists of manual therapy and therapeutic exercises. Education plays a large component in Mike's practice, with emphasis on information about the injury, strategies to manage the injury/condition at home, and different ways to approach the rehabilitation process.⁠⁠
We asked Mike, what aspect of Physiotherapy interests you the most?⁠⁠
" As a Physiotherapist, I am genuinely invested in my patient’s lives and their positive outcomes. The biggest compliment I can receive after helping a patient is having them tell me, “I feel like you really care.” Those words resonate with me and are a reflection of my approach to physiotherapy. It’s why I love my job!⁠
On a professional level, I am always trying to learn new things and pursue additional courses and training consistently in order to achieve this. Acupuncture and dry needling are examples of tools that I consistently use in practice and that my patients have found to be quite effective.”

Northgate’s renovation and expansion has been on our wish list for several years now. Finally, we are so happy to share our new and updated space with everyone.

We would like to send out a huge thank you to everyone who came out to our launch party this past Saturday. It was great to see all your smiling faces! We also want to send a special shout out to Kristin Glass Events, thank you for everything! Your top-notch organization, planning, and communication skills made this event a success. If you ever need an event planner, she’s your girl! Thank you to Noorish Cafe for the delicious hors d'oeuvrse and superb service, Glow Juicery for the refreshing juice, .cookies (she's only on IG - check her out) for the super impressive and tasty customized cookies, Ultimate Bartending School for the scrumptious drinks & flair cocktail service, Bellamy Balloons for the charming décor, Q Filmz and Khurram Sultan for making us look good in pics and video, and to Bradley James Entertainment for playing the perfect tunes to match the crowd.

We look forward to serving the community in our brand-new space in the upcoming years!
