Tip Tuesday : Grief Doesn't Have a Time Limit
Grief is the reflection of the connection that has been lost.
That loss does not diminish because you are an adult or because your loved one lived a long life. Our society places enormous pressure on us to get over loss, to get through the grief.
The loss happens in a moment, but its aftermath lasts a lifetime. The grief is real because loss is real. Each loss has its own imprint, as distinctive and unique as the person we lost. It doesn’t matter how old we are.
Sometimes the pressure that we put on ourselves to get through or get over it puts even more weight on the grief. Take a few moments for yourself to be kind and remember that its ok, normal, and will be something that you will learn to live with.
And if you need extra help navigating your grief lean on friends, family, or medical professionals. There should be no shame in grief.
