📚 Welcome to our monthly psychology book series with Psychologist Lyndsay & her sidekick, Ravioli! 🐾
Our first book spotlight is The Body Keeps the Score by Dr. Bessel van der Kolk.
This book explores the impact of trauma and how it can affect our mind, body, emotions, and behaviours. Dr. van der Kolk helps us understand why we may think, feel, or behave in certain ways as a result of trauma.
Trauma can disrupt our sense of safety, causing our minds and bodies to stay on the lookout for danger and keeping us in “survival mode.” It can even make the past feel like the present.
Along with helping readers better understand trauma, the book explores different approaches to managing symptoms and supporting healing.
