Some people may worry that therapy will ask them to set their faith aside.

Faith-based counselling takes a different approach. Your beliefs, values, and spiritual practices are treated as part of who you are and part of what supports you.

This is not a replacement for clinical work. The therapy is still grounded in evidence-based approaches. What changes is that your faith can be part of how you understand what you are going through and how you move through it.

Some people want prayer or scripture included. Others simply want a therapist who will not treat their beliefs as a problem to be worked around. Both are valid starting points.

If this matters to you, tell our intake team. We will match you with a therapist who suits what you're looking for.

A lot of people come to trauma therapy expecting that the goal is to stop remembering. But that is rarely how it works, and it is not what recovery asks of you.

Healing means what happened no longer controls your life. The intensity can come down. The memory can start to feel like something that already happened rather than something currently happening now.

That shift is what most people mean when they talk about healing. Not an empty space where the memory used to be, but a memory that no longer decides how you sleep, who you trust, or where you can go.

At Kells Psychology, our trauma-trained therapists use approaches like EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, and somatic therapy to help people process difficult experiences.

Meet Pavi Rajendran, a Practicum Therapist at Kells Psychology.

Pavi helps clients understand themselves better, recognize their strengths, and build coping skills for everyday life.

Practicum Therapists are graduate students completing their clinical training under the supervision of our Registered Psychologists. They offer sessions at a reduced hourly rate to keep cost from being a barrier to support for eligible clients.

Call or email our intake team to see if this program is a fit for you.

Thanksgiving Day can be a lot. Cooking, hosting, driving, or just getting through it. 🍁

Tonight, once the house is quiet, try this. Name three small things from today that you are glad about.

Keep them small and specific.
Not "my family." Instead, the way your niece went straight for the turkey.
Not "a nice meal." Instead, that the gravy actually worked this year.
Not "good company." Instead, that someone said thank you and meant it.

Small and specific works better because you have to look back at the day to find them. That noticing is the useful part, not the list itself.

OCD is a widely misunderstood condition, and part of that comes from how casually the term gets used. When OCD becomes shorthand for tidy or particular, the actual experience disappears from view.

That experience often includes unwanted thoughts that feel frightening, shame about having them, and rituals that quietly take hours out of a day.

If unwanted thoughts or repeated behaviours are taking up space in your life, reach out to learn more about our counselling services.

You see the effort at the kitchen table. The homework that takes two hours. The tears before a spelling test. And then the report card comes back and it does not match what you watched them put in.

Many parents notice something feels off before it shows up on paper.

A psychoeducational assessment looks at how your child actually learns. It sorts out whether the difficulty is with reading, writing, math, attention, processing, anxiety, or a combination. You do not need a referral. You can call and ask questions before deciding anything.

Do you feel guilty when you take time for yourself?

You are not alone. Associate Director and Registered Psychologist Emily Killen, M.C., shares what self-care means and why it is not a luxury.

Stress builds quietly. One skipped meal, one late night, one more thing on an already full plate. Caring for yourself is part of caring for the people around you.

Self-Care Isn't Selfish is a therapist-designed, client-informed journal by our founder Janet Ryan-Newell. It helps you notice what drains your energy and what fills it back up.

Find it on Amazon for $16, or pick one up at our front desk for $14.
