Today we celebrate and honor mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, foster and adoptive mothers, spiritual mothers, and all women who nurture, guide, and care for others — often in ways both seen and unseen. 💛

We also hold space for those walking through infertility, miscarriage, child loss, estrangement, or the pain of hopes that have not unfolded as imagined. Your story matters, and your feelings are deeply important too.

No matter what this day looks like for you, we hope it brings moments of love, comfort, gentleness, support, and hope.

Some of these photos were captured from a few years ago setting up for our DIL walk. Unfortunately, our planned partnership with Pieta House did not materialize due to circumstances beyond our control. Nonetheless, we are delighted that a group of us can still unite for the walk at 4:00 am. (Friday night into Sat am May 9)! Participants are requested to gather at Victoria Park Pavilion parking lot between 3:30-3:45 am for a 5 km walk to raise awareness about Mental Health and Su***de Prevention.

Please see guidelines: dress warmly as temperatures drop at night, no bathroom facilities available, carry flashlights, wear comfortable shoes, leashed dogs are welcome, and wear your event t-shirt if you have one. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. See you in a few hours!

We will still plan to gather at Victoria Park Pavilion on May 9th to participate in a global solidarity walk.

All interested parties are invited to join us at 4:00 AM (Friday night into Saturday morning). Note that this event will take place as scheduled despite the 2026 Darkness Into Light Walk in Edmonton not being affiliated with the global DIL event with Pieta house due to unforeseen circumstances.

We will proceed with the 5 km walk as planned. Please be advised that the pavilion facilities, including restrooms and warming areas, will not be available. Participants are advised to dress warmly and arrive between 3:30-3:45 AM.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude for your ongoing support and dedication, which have significantly contributed to the event's success and impact within our community.

We look forward to potentially hosting the walk again in May 2027 as Darkness into Light and hope you will consider joining us.
