Research continues to show that gender bias exists in healthcare and it impacts outcomes. Studies have found that women are more likely to have their pain underestimated or dismissed, experience longer wait times in emergency settings, and face delays in diagnosis for conditions like heart disease and autoimmune disorders. Historically, much of medical research has been based on male bodies, which can affect how symptoms are recognized and treated.
