I didn’t think this drink would become one of my favourite little daily rituals… but here we are. 🌺🥰
If you’ve never tried sorrel before, it’s made from dried hibiscus leaves and has this sweet tangy taste, that makes every glass feel like a little treat.
I started making batches and keeping it in the fridge week after week, and honestly, that’s what made me fall in love with it.
Because I’m realizing that the wellness habits I actually stick with are the ones that don’t make my life harder😂
Brew it. Chill it. Pour a glass. Done.
And that gorgeous deep red colour? That comes from this natural plant pigment is called anthocyanins, They’re a type of antioxidant that helps protect our cells from oxidative stress, which is one of the reasons I started drinking it more🌺
Plus, there’s something so satisfying about opening the fridge and seeing a cold pitcher of homemade sorrel waiting for you as oppose to my usual routine of drinking sugary drinks 😍
Here’s my simple batch:
🌺 2 cups dried hibiscus
💧 5 cups water
✨ 1 to 2 cinnamon sticks
⭐ 1 star anise
🍋 1 cup lemon juice
🍯 1 cup sugar or honey, to taste
💧 4 cups cold water
🧊 2 cups ice
Boil the hibiscus, cinnamon and star anise. Steep 15 to 20 minutes, strain, then add the remaining ingredients. Chill and enjoy.
Tell me, what’s one simple wellness ritual you’ve actually managed to stick with? Let’s connect.
