We are incredibly grateful to BHP for their generous donation of $62,203.85 in support of St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake.

This important contribution will fund the purchase of much-needed medical equipment, including a tonometer, Omni hysteroscope, and a new microscope—tools that are essential for delivering high-quality care to our patients.

Investments like this help ensure our clinical teams have the equipment they need to provide safe, timely, and effective care close to home.

UPDATE July 17, 2026

Air quality in Elliot Lake has improved significantly, and the visitor requests outlined in our previous air quality advisory have now been lifted. Thank you to our patients, residents, clients, visitors, volunteers, physicians, and staff for your cooperation, understanding, and support during this air quality event.

𝐀𝐈𝐑 𝐐𝐔𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄

St. Joseph's General Hospital Elliot Lake (SJGHEL) is aware of the air quality challenges currently affecting the Elliot Lake area and surrounding communities. We are closely monitoring conditions and taking all available steps within our facilities to support the wellbeing of our patients, residents, clients, visitors, volunteers, physicians and staff.

𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐖𝐄 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐃𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐆

• Monitoring building systems and indoor conditions on an ongoing basis.
• Making adjustments to ventilation and air handling systems where possible.
• We continue to assess conditions and implement measures within our control to minimize impacts indoors.

𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐄𝐒

All hospital services, appointments, outpatient services and scheduled procedures remain open and are operating as usual. Individuals who are sensitive to smoke or poor air quality may wish to take extra precautions and consider their personal health needs when planning visits or travel to and from SJGHEL.

To support our efforts to maintain the best possible indoor air quality:

• Visitors are asked to limit their visits at this time to reduce the number of door openings.

Welcome, Dr. Bogdana Wannan!

The City of Elliot Lake, St. Joseph’s General Hospital, the Elliot Lake Family Health Team, and Elliot Lake Physician Recruitment are pleased to welcome Dr. Bogdana Wannan as she begins her Family Medicine Residency with NOSM University.

Over the next two years, Dr. Wannan will be training and providing care in our community through the Elliot Lake Family Health Team and St. Joseph’s General Hospital.

We are excited to have her as part of our healthcare community and wish her every success throughout her residency!

Together, we did it!
One week into our official opening, the excitement is going strong at St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake’s newly redeveloped Pharmacy!

Following our April 15th ribbon cutting and staff open house, the Pharmacy team successfully relocated on April 17th, resumed full operations on April 20th, and is now delivering care in a modern space designed for safety, efficiency, and excellence.

This milestone was made possible through the incredible generosity of our community and the St. Joseph’s Foundation, helping bring enhanced pharmacy services and better care closer to home.
