TOY TUESDAY: Doctor Set 🩺🩹
Is your little one or their favourite stuffy ready for a check-up? This doctor set is a fantastic way to introduce imaginative play while building communication skills!
Speech Sound Practice:
- Practice the "d" sound for doctor or “s” for sick.
- Work on “h” for help or “b” for bandage and boo-boo.
Receptive Language:
- Follow directions like “Give the bunny a shot” or “Check my tummy with the stethoscope.”
- Identify body parts: "Show me where your arm hurts" or "Put the band-aid on your knee."
Expressive Language:
- Encourage requests like “I'd like the hammer” or “Need bandage.”
- Practice commenting on how things feel, e.g., "It's cold" (the stethoscope) or making a statement like "All better!"
Play Skills:
- Engage in pretend play – taking on roles and creating simple scenarios.
- Practice taking turns being the doctor and the patient.
- Problem-solving by figuring out what to do if the patient is "sick."
Let the healing begin! A doctor set is a timeless classic for building language and social skills through play.
