The benefits of nervous system work in real life are HUGE… but here’s one potent example:
I’ve been single for the better part of 13 years. Parenting, bills, decisions, responsibilities — I carry all of it myself. And while there’s so much about that life I love… sometimes, it’s heavy.
Right now there’s also some distance in relationships and support systems that are normally very close and stable for me.
Ruby and I may have to move again soon — oh, the joys of renting. 😂
And then there’s the state of the world.
The injustice. Division. Suffering. Things completely outside our control that we still witness, feel and carry.
There is A LOT that could feel uncertain right now.
And yet…
This morning I was walking Luna in the sunshine feeling genuinely GREAT — and deeply grateful for my life.
Not pretending everything is fine.
Not bypassing what’s hard.
Not forcing myself to “think positive.”
Actually feeling peaceful.
(We don’t do toxic positivity here. 😂)
Because despite instability on the outside, over the last four years I’ve learned how to create stability inside myself.
THAT is nervous system work.
It doesn’t make life easy. It means you develop a place within yourself you can always return to.
You can feel deeply without being consumed.
Move through uncertainty without losing yourself.
Experience peace even when your circumstances aren’t peaceful.
Because people change.
Relationships change.
Homes change.
The world changes.
But the safety, steadiness and trust you build within yourself?
That belongs to you.
And no person or circumstance can take it away.
THAT is freedom. 💜
