On July 12th at The Fergus Tennis Clubhouse, Doris and Kristin will be offering Performance Care Assessments at a discount, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to support the Fergus Tennis Club's youth programs.

Our goal is to help remove financial barriers for students who might not otherwise get the opportunity to experience tennis, for example by sponsoring kids for our summer camps.

The Performance Care Assessment identifies pain or performance issues and gives youth and adults a plan to minimize injury risk and optimize performance. Receipts will be provided for benefits, and we're offering $100 off our normal price to make performance care more accessible to the community.

Shoulder pain keeping you off the court, out of the gym, or just making everyday life harder? πŸ™‹ Our latest blog breaks down why a rotator cuff problem is rarely just about the rotator cuff, and what a nervous system approach to treatment can do that strengthening alone can't. Six years in πŸŽ‚. EMP turns 6 today and I've been reflecting on it a lot this past week.

Six years ago, this clinic started out of happenstance. What came after was a series of curveballs I never saw coming, each one reshaping things into something a little different (and better).

This version? It's already proven to be my favourite.

I have truly never felt lighter in this work. I get to work with the most fun, funny, interesting, and genuinely wonderful people (who also happen to share the best book recommendations πŸ˜…). I get to use my brain in the strange and unique ways it works best: no rigid protocols, no recipes, just using evidence-based knowledge to piece together unique (and often complex) puzzle pieces to help people achieve their goals. And I am so lucky to have created a clinic model that allows our team to help people in the way we know best. It's different, but it works.

And somewhere along the way, I have realized that each curveball has been an opportunity to shed what wasn't working. And with that, I have found out how much lighter this work can feel when everything around you actually fits.

I'm sure year 6 will have a few surprises up its sleeve. But six years in, I've learned to welcome them, because the best things have always been waiting on the other side.

Thank you for trusting us with your care. This work has been such an honour. There is nothing quite like watching someone with chronic pain get back on the golf course, seeing a young athlete return to their sport after months on the sideline and helping the person who was told they were as good as they'd get ... then helping them prove otherwise or seeing an athlete light up in surprise at how much stronger they feel, even when pain was never the issue. These are the things that make me excited for each day and to see what year 6 brings.

Thank you for being here. Truly.

Kristin
