Today we’re celebrating our incredible admin team — Carolann, Kennedi, and Sarah — on Administrative Professionals Day 💜

These three are so much more than the voices on the phone or the faces at the front desk. They are the ones who keep everything running behind the scenes, keep us organized, and somehow manage to keep all of us on track (which is no small task!).

They’re the friendly smiles that greet you when you walk through our doors, the calm voices helping you find the right appointment, and the steady hands making sure everything flows the way it should.

We are so lucky to have each of you as part of our team — thank you for everything you do, every single day. It does not go unnoticed.

Pain isn’t always just physical.

For many people, chronic pain is deeply connected to stress, emotions, and the nervous system. That’s where a different kind of support can make all the difference.

At Haas Physical Therapy, our approach to care includes the whole person — not just the injury.

Working alongside our team, chronic pain counsellor/mental health counsellor Lisa Markham helps patients better understand their pain, regulate their nervous system, and build practical strategies to move forward with confidence.

Because real progress often comes from addressing more than just the physical symptoms.

Imaging like X-rays or MRIs can be helpful, but they are only one piece of the puzzle. Many people have findings on scans that aren’t actually causing their pain.

The full picture always includes movement, symptoms, and how your body is functioning. đź’š

Did you know…

Pain doesn’t always mean damage — and no pain doesn’t always mean everything is fine.

The body is a bit more complex than that.

At Haas, we look at the full picture — movement, strength, nervous system, and lifestyle — not just one piece.

That’s where real, lasting change happens. 💙

We see this every day in clinic…

People wait until something is really bothering them before reaching out.

But often, the earlier you address something — the easier it is to treat.

Whether it’s physical pain, tension, or even feeling overwhelmed or not quite like yourself… it’s worth paying attention to. 💚

Your body and mind are closely connected — and both deserve care.

You don’t have to wait until it gets worse.

This video popped up for me recently — from back in 2020 — when I was really diving deeper into and studying pain, chronic pain, and upregulated nervous systems.

At the time, I was deep into courses focused on a biopsychosocial approach to pain — learning about nervous system sensitization and the importance of down-regulation. I remember my brain feeling like it was spinning in circles… but in a good way.

It was a bit of a shift in thinking from the more “anatomical” brain we often come out of school with… and honestly, I haven’t looked back since.

One of the biggest things I started to understand (and now say almost daily in clinic) is this:

There is no one “perfect” posture.

Our bodies aren’t meant to hold one ideal position all day — they’re meant to move.

Do imbalances happen? Yes.
Do we sometimes work to address them? Also yes.

But even if you found the “perfect” anatomical position — if you stayed there long enough, it could still become uncomfortable or painful.

Movement, variation, and adaptability are what our bodies really thrive on.

What’s been even more impactful is understanding how much our thoughts, experiences, and nervous system play a role in pain and recovery. The body and mind are always working together — not separately.

This is something I now teach and mentor to all of the therapists in our clinic — and a big reason why I’ve found co-treatment with our chronic pain counsellor to be so valuable for certain cases.

These concepts were introduced to me through pelvic health training, but they’ve shaped how I approach every area of treatment.

And truly… it’s changed everything about how I help people.

Funny how something as simple as a Facebook memory can bring you back to a moment of learning — and remind you just how much it still resonates.
