Community Shoe Drive is underway until Labour Day!
-- Give Your Shoes a Second Life!

At Jardine Funeral Home, we believe in caring for our community in meaningful ways. We are proud to partner with Soles4Souls Canada and BioPed Footcare in Lindsay to collect gently used shoes and boots of all kinds.

Your donations will:

Emergency relief to those in crisis
Support Small Business owners in developing countries
Supply children in need to shoes so that they can go to school
Keep shoes out of the landfills.
Protect our environment

Since 2016, Soles4Souls Canada has redistributed over 2.1 million pairs of shoes and diverted 2.3 million pounds of textiles from landfills. With BioPeds help, more than 800,00 pairs have already been collected across Canada.

Please drop off our gently used footwear in the bin located under the front porch of Jardine Funeral Home, 8 Princes' St. W., Fenelon Falls.

Together, we can turn something as simple as an old pair of shoes into an opportunity, hope and relief for someone else.

Thank you for joining us in this meaningful effort.

-Alison Steinsky, Rob and Monica Jardine

With profound sadness, the family of Gary Bruce Traill announce his peaceful passing at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. His loss will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing his generous heart, unwavering kindness, and lifelong dedication to serving others.

Gary was the beloved husband and best friend of Christine Traill (née Vanstone) for 50 wonderful years. He was the proud father of Cassie Traill and Tim Traill and his wife Julie. He was the cherished "Truck Papa" of Andrew Traill, Bradley Traill (Rosie), Mathew Traill, Aidan Traill and Kiley Traill, a title he wore with immense pride, and the proud great-grandfather of Aria and Noah.

He was the loving son of the late Victor Traill and Ethel Jansen, and will be fondly remembered by his siblings: Louise Schmidt (the late John Schmidt), Don Traill (Leslie), the late Robert Traill and survived by his wife Pat Traill, Sandra LeGrow (Lorne), Shelley LeGrow (the late Gordon LeGrow), Kevin Traill (Jessie), and Kim Root (David), together with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Gary and Christine proudly owned and operated the Bulk Barn in Lindsay from 2005 to 2015. He took tremendous pride in the business, but even greater pride in the people. His employees were treated like family, his customers were greeted as friends, and his grandchildren affectionately nicknamed him the "Candy Man." Even the family dogs knew that a visit to Grandpa meant a special treat. Whether at work or at home, Gary's greatest happiness came from caring for others and creating lasting memories with those he loved.

A man of exceptional generosity, Gary believed that the greatest reward in life came through service. Rotary became one of his life's greatest passions. He joined the Fenelon Falls Rotary Club in 1991, where he served in many capacities and developed a particular passion for Rotary's Youth Exchange Program, helping create life-changing opportunities for young people. Following the purchase of Bulk Barn, he transferred his membership to the Lindsay Rotary Club, where he continued his dedicated involvement.

Gary's love of Mexico inspired the next chapter of his volunteer journey when he became a member of the Bahías de Huatulco Rotary Club. While spending his winters in Huatulco, he devoted countless hours to community projects, including dental outreach initiatives and installing purified water systems in local schools. His compassion, leadership, and willingness to help wherever needed touched countless lives. Gary never sought recognition for his volunteer work; he simply believed in making the world a little better wherever he found himself. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and service will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Cremation has taken place, and arrangements have been entrusted to Jardine Funeral Home, Cremation & Tribute Centre, 8 Princes' St. W., Fenelon Falls, Ontario, 705-887-6155. A Celebration of Gary's Life will be announced at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Rotary International would be appreciated. In honour of Gary's lifelong commitment to service, the family hopes his generosity of spirit will live on through the continued work of Rotary, supporting communities both near and far. https://bit.ly/4wGu5r2

It is with great sadness that his family announces his passing on July 7, 2026 at the age of 62. Brant passed away doing what he loved most in life, on the land where he was raised and forever cherished. He was the much loved husband of Carolyn and immensely proud father of Courtney (Aaron), Eli, and Jamie Lyn (Nate) who will miss his quiet guidance and his unforgettable sense of humour. He was an incredibly proud grandfather to his cherished granddaughter, Letty and eagerly anticipated the arrival of his second grandchild.
Brant is survived by siblings Glen, Deborah (George), Philip (Laurie), sister-in-law Kathy (Allan 2017), Carolyn’s siblings Valerie (Dave), Scott (Claudia), Janet and many nieces and nephews. He was the beloved son of the late Eli (2016) and Elsie (2021) Jones.

A farmer through and through, Brant found his greatest joy in the fields and among his beloved polled herefords. His passion for farming was evident in everything he did including showing cattle for both himself and his dad with much pride. In addition to farming, Brant had a love for trees and was an accomplished forestry technician who established a business and dedicated many years to the forestry services industry. He loved his sports, especially hockey, with baseball a close second, but above all else, Brant’s greatest love and pride was his family. His quiet strength, kind heart, gentle nature and genuine interest in others made him someone people naturally gravitated towards. He will be remembered as a humble, hardworking man whose life was rooted in family, friendship and the values of honesty and perseverance.

Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, there is comfort in knowing he spent his final moments in a place he loved, doing the work that defined so much of his life. Those who knew Brant will carry his memory in their hearts and honour him in the countless stories, lessons and moments they shared with him.
Family and friends are warmly invited to celebrate Brant’s life and share some laughs in a casual setting on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Fenelon Falls Community Center, 27 Veterans Way, Fenelon Falls. Words of remembrance will be shared at 7:00 p.m. If desired, donations may be made to the Hospital for Sick Kids or Cops for Cancer - Pedal for Hope and can be arranged by cheque.

Arrangements have been entrusted to JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION & TRIBUTE CENTRE, 8 Princes' St. W., Fenelon Falls, 705-887-3130. Staff will be on-site during the celebration of life to assist with any donations.
