Happy Spring Equinox. Mother Earth is awakening. I don't know about you but my soul has been craving spring, the warm hot sun on my skin has been so wonderful.

Women are considered to be the carriers of life because women’s bodies have to ability to grow and sustain life. When women give birth they release this water, similar to when the Earth’s spring water begins to flow. Water is considered the blood of Mother Earth; her veins are the lakes, rivers and inlets. Like Mother Earth, humans are mostly made up of water, whatever affects the water affects us and vice versa – everything is connected. - muskratmagazine.com/indigenous-calendars-mark-much-more-than-the-spring-equinox/

Today is World Water Day.
Water is the blood of Mother Earth. As women we are the carriers of the Water because of the sacred relationship we have with it. We carry our children and grandchildren in our sacred waters for 9 months (40 weeks), just like our mothers and grandmothers carried us in their sacred waters.

Water is life. There are people all over the world who do not have access to clean water. In Canada alone there are numerous indigenous communities that have boil water advisories.

The number of babies and children that die from ingesting or bathing in unsanitary waters around the world is almost 3 times higher than those that die from conflict. Mother's are mixing their babies formula with contaminated water because that is all they have.

We must do better for our future generations.

🤱 Living in the North and in Manitoba already subjects us to subpar Healthcare especially when it comes to women's health. Sharing your story not only helps you to heal but will also help towards something bigger, the more stories they receive the more chance of making a difference for future birthing people. 🤱

ASK Therapy is running a Listening Campaign for Moms/Birthing people who had their babies during the pandemic. Jennifer is a registered therapist, who will listen to your stories and support you through revisiting your pregnancy, labor & birth and postpartum experience. Birth can be hard and traumatizing and postpartum can also be super hard without a pandemic to add to the stress. Their goal is to get a minimum of 100 to a maximum of 1000 stories. In collecting these stories they want to paint a picture of how the pandemic has effected the mental health of moms/birthing people with real life data. They also want to be able to provide suggestions of ways to prevent these things from happening going forward. They will use the data collected to approach government officials and healthcare authorities.

Some of the ways the pandemic could have caused additional stress on you and your supports are:

🤰Not being able to access in person prenatal services
🤱Fear or anxiety of contracting COVID-19 while pregnant
🤰Increased stress of wearing a mask
👶Not receiving routine tests or check ups because the services were suspended due to COVID-19
🧑‍🍼Your partner or support person not being allowed to attend ultrasounds with you
👨‍🍼Not being allowed to have your partner or support person with you during appointments or emergent visits to the hospital during pregnancy
🤰Being required to wear a mask during delivery
🧑‍🍼Not being allowed to have your partner or birthing person with you while in labor
🤱Being required to have a COVID-19 test before being admitted to the hospital while in labor
👩‍🍼If you avoided going to the hospital during pregnancy when you should have or during early labor due to anxiety or fear of being exposed to COVID-19
👶If you felt lonely or cut off from the world because you weren't allowed to have family or friends come to your home during COVID-19
🤱If you felt isolated because there wasn't any community supports available to you during COVID-19

If you feel your pregnancy, birth or postpartum experience was affected by COVID-19 in any way not matter how big or small your story is worth sharing.

ASK Therapy for Moms Listening Campaign is a focused effort to build community and identify concerns and priorities within a specific sector of the population. The campaign is being used to provide a safe outlet for mothers and parents to share their stories of birth and postpartum during the pandem...

If you have a few minutes please take the time to fill out this survey about our community. They're looking for information about childcare and early learning. The more information they collect then they can tailor their services for our community. We currently need services here in town and with them opening their new mmf building they're definitely looking at how their services can benefit our community.

Message from the Manitoba Metis Federation's Early Learning & Child Care program:

For us to better understand the needs of families, we are conducting a short (online) survey. Our target audience are parents with young children (0-6 years old) or those planning on having kids in the near future. There is no need to be a Métis citizen, the survey is open for all families! 😊

The more information we manage to collect, the better we can understand the needs of your region and program accordingly!

You can participate by scanning the QR code or the website link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SPSVPR9

V***A NATION🍓

The va**na is a portal between worlds. Between realms. The stars and the earth. The spiritual and the physical. Our beings mimicking the earth. The earth mimicking our beings.

Did you feel it?
In labor, when you went to the stars?
Then guided your baby earth side, alongside you in your return?
…it was amazing, wasn’t it?

Baby brains are so fascinating!! I just love learning about how amazing they are. Right from the moment your baby is born their little brains are lighting up like fireworks as their synapses are creating strong pathways.

Here's some good facts about baby brains.
