Birch Pine Park

Birch Pine Park Beautiful location off the shores off Lake Huron. Named after our magnificent, tall, White Birch and Weather Permitting. Shawkence. Johns Ambulance Service.

We are a Seasonal RV Park that is only open through the months of May, through the summer and we officially close on Thanksgiving weekend. We have NO tenting available anymore, we only allow tenting if you are going to be staying on a lot of a Seasonal Camper in Birch Pine. Birch Pine Park was established in 1974 by the Late Chief Charlie K. A gifted musician who could play any instrument by ear,

during Charlie's lifetime achievements; he was a police constable, a coach for sports and actively involved with youth. He was an ambulance attendant with the St. He also played with various musicians down through the years, playing in nursing homes, legions, and any event where fiddle music could be heard. During his years of service as a leader, he was presented with an Eagle Feather by the Union of Ontario Indians. In 1974 Premier Bill Davis made a declaration naming a township in the Northern Region of Ontario after the Shawkence name, this was valuable recognition for his contribution to the development of this region at the time. Charlie served as a leader of Kettle & Stony Point First Nation for 14 years. He was also a founding member of the London District Chiefs Council. Charlie was a fighter and he fought for many Anishinabe (first nations people). He wanted a better way of life for those that know about the reserve life. He had a vision of a new community centre, school, water treatment plant, health centre and grocery store. He lived to see it come about. The greatest recognition of achievement that was bestowed on Charlie was when he was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Union of Ontario Indians in the year 2000. He has bequeathed this burial ground as his resting place where he entered into, in the New Millennium. In dedication this area is a place of peace and mediation. The Memorial Mediation Garden and Bird Sanctuary are in his honour. Charlie's family lineage can be traced through to the Great War Chief Tecumseh. Charlie is the son of Baxter Shawkence. His grandfather was Wesley Shawkence and his great grandfather was Shahkeens Big Knife also known as "Chi-Mauk-Man. Chi-Mauk-Man's father was the companion to Chippewa warrior O Shawanoo Big Knife, nephew to Tecumseh, who fought the Americans in the War of 1812. Charlie was a loving family man, father, grandfather and great grandfather. War medals were given to Tecumseh for fighting in this great battle and Charlie was in possession of these medals, which were passed down from elders. Charlie created Birch Pine Park as part of a legacy to leave behind. We do our very best to carry on his vision and his wishes for what he wanted here. We are known for our beautiful location. We have award-winning gardens on our property that no words can do justice. It is something you truly have to see for yourself! We have a wildlife sanctuary here, as many of our animals call this place home as well. We take pride in knowing that this is the place set aside as an Sanctuary for Peace and Rest. As of 2021~we are heading into a new decade of securing this Peace. As well we are thankful and so very blessed to have a refuge for the Animals of Nature that frequently can be seen in the Wildlife Sanctuary Gardens.

β€œOh It’s time to snack β€œ Amik is deliciously thinking πŸ’. It’s 2:30 in the breezy hot afternoon ~ and our friend Amik~ is giving the directive~ time for a pick me up. Get energy! O how he is just so cute.
We are thankful he’s at ease here in the Wildlife Sanctuary. We are thankful he is safe. This is his home. We were cleaning along the ponds, getting the garden areas caught up this afternoon, when we spotted Amik , near the Owl bench. So calmly snacking. He’s so adorable. Prayers of protection for Amik as well. For, he works all night in the bush ~ harvesting. He’s smart, he gets ready for Winter all spring , and summer. No moss grows under his feet.

I really do think that Amik has little ones. Today ~ reinforces that idea. No wonder he was so worked up on Sunday ~
Today we caught him delivering Lily pad leaves, a whole bundle full! Right down inside to the main lodge.
