1. Good posture: 🧍🏻‍♀️
Standing and sitting with good posture helps to reduce stress on the pelvic floor. Try to get your shoulders open and have a straight back.
2. Performing kegel exercises: 🫐
Strengthen your pelvic floor by contracting your muscles. Pretend like you are picking up a blueberry
3. Work on some pelvic tilts: 🧘🏻‍♀️
On your hands and knee arch your back like a cat and slowly release into a cow. This will help to work your core muscles and reduce back pain.
4. Drink water and eat a fiber rich diet: 💦
This will help to reduce/ prevent constipation which will decrease any added pressure on the pelvic floor.
5. Stay active: 🏃🏻‍♀️
Perform what ever physical activity that feels best for you. Yoga, walking, Pilates, weight lifting etc. The benefits of exercise are endless!

The pelvic floor does not get the attention it deserves!
It plays such a huge role in so many functions that we do not even realize. Some of these include:
- Stabilizing your core
- Supporting pelvic organs
- Bathroom functions
- Supporting your baby
- Labour and delivery
- Sexual health
- Helps to stabilize the spine

I think it’s about time we stop ignoring our pelvic floors and start giving it the recognition and TLC it deserves 👏🏼

Yes, we are going to get intimate here and talk about something a little out of your comfort zone 🥰

❣️Typically pain with pe*******on is caused from increased tension in the pelvic floor. I often hear women say “it feels like my partner is hitting a wall”.

❣️This is also usually accompanied by pain or inability to use a tampon, incontinence, hip/low back pain/ tension and inability to have an or**sm or pain during/after or**sm.

❣️Intimacy is important as human beings so don’t feel ashamed to talk about it!!

❣️Working on balancing out the tension in your pelvic floor will help with all the above symptoms, but improving your intimate experiences is a bonus!

Do you notice that you have a separation of your ab muscles or have doming or coning when you’re doing ab work? 🙋🏻‍♀️

Is this normal? Yes
Is there treatment to help restore the tissues? 100% there is!

It can be difficult to reconnect the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles after experiencing pregnancy and labour. That is why having a pelvic health physiotherapy assessment is important to make those changes and create a treatment plan specific to you! ☺️

I know what you are thinking…. stupid question!
We need to breathe to survive. DUHH!
You are right, we do need to breathe to survive, but our breathing pattern gives us so much information on how our body is functioning. We don’t want to breathe just to survive! 😮‍💨
Did you know the average resting respiratory rate has almost doubled over time?! Many factors have caused this including lifestyles changes and stress 🧘🏻‍♀️

When you get a chance today take a couple of deep breaths… you can thank me later ☺️
Stay tuned for more talk about breathing!

Your breathing pattern can affect so many things including your pelvic floor! 🫁
The pelvic floor includes everything from ribs to knees, 360 degrees. This means the diaphragm and pelvic floor connection heavily impact your pelvic floor symptoms.

Pay attention to your breathing pattern and see if you notice any changes ☺️
