๐Ÿšจ WHERE DO YOU CHARGE YOUR PHONE? ๐Ÿšจ

Many people charge their phones on beds, couches, or even under pillowsโ€”especially at night.

While modern phones and chargers have built-in safety features, charging on soft surfaces can trap heat and reduce ventilation.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Why does this matter?

Pillows, blankets, and mattresses are combustible materials. If a charger, cable, battery, or device develops a fault, the trapped heat can increase the risk of overheating and potentially start a fire.

โš ๏ธ The risk becomes higher when using:
โŒ Damaged charging cables
โŒ Counterfeit or low-quality chargers
โŒ Damaged or swollen batteries
โŒ Devices covered by blankets or pillows while charging

โœ… Charge safely:
โ€ข Place devices on a hard, stable surface
โ€ข Use original or certified chargers
โ€ข Replace damaged cables immediately
โ€ข Keep charging devices away from bedding and other combustibles
โ€ข Install working smoke alarms in your home

๐Ÿ’ก Fire Safety Reminder:
A phone charger should not normally ignite bedding by itself. However, faulty equipment, damaged batteries, and trapped heat can create dangerous conditions that increase fire risk.

A simple change in charging habits can help keep your home and family safe. ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

Where do you usually charge your phone? Let us know in the comments.

Think hailstorms are a winter thing? Theyโ€™re actually more common between May and October.

Get prepared for hailstorms by learning what you should do if you get caught in one:
- If youโ€™re outside, seek shelter in a secure building
- If there is no accessible shelter, crouch down, face away from the wind and protect your head and neck with your hands
- If youโ€™re driving, pull over and face away from all windows

From the archives: Did you know? As an adult, anybody whoโ€™s had a reaction to a sting thatโ€™s remote from the sting site โ€” like swelling lips or tongue, breathing issues, fainting โ€” is potentially at risk of anaphylaxis from the venom. What to know?
โ€ข Which insects cause most of the life threatening reactions? (Honeybees aren't innocent!)
โ€ข Why the first sting doesn't usually trigger a reaction.
โ€ข How kids and adults react differently + when to worry.
โ€ข How to protect yourself.
