Join us tomorrow as we participate in the 6th Annual FASD Awareness Walk at Wilmot Park! ❤️

More than 6 years ago, our clinic began a journey to provide FASD education, advocacy, and support to individuals, families, caregivers, and professionals in our community.

After many days and nights spent planning, advocating, and collaborating, the Balance Psychology Clinic FASD Assessment Team officially began offering private multidisciplinary FASD assessments, following the CanFASD guidelines. We are so proud of everything our team and community partners have accomplished.

FASD-informed communities are created when individuals, families, professionals, and organizations work together. We truly believe we are always stronger as a community.

We hope to see you at the walk tomorrow!

6th Annual F.A.S.D. Awareness Walk

This year’s FASD Awareness Month theme, “Everyone Plays a Part: It Takes a Community”, highlights the power of collective support in creating a society where individuals with FASD and their families can thrive.

When we talk about community, we mean more than just the professionals. Community includes families, friends, neighbours, cultural centers, schools, and workplaces. These are the many people and networks that surround and support individuals every day.

🍂 Summer well spent! 🍂

As the crisp fall air arrives, we want to wish students heading back to school a successful and exciting year! 📚✨

We also want to give a special shout out to our two summer students, Olivia and Alexis, who brought so much positivity and energy to the clinic over the past few months.

Olivia joined us in June 2024, and has now spent three summers with us! She is heading into her third year of Biochemistry at UNB. We love our “Olivia days". She brings positive energy, helps keep Mel organized, and always makes sure the clinic feels warm and welcoming for our clients.

This was Alexis' first summer with us. She is heading into her second year of Psychology at STU. Alexis took on so many of Mel’s side projects (there are a lot!) with motivation and enthusiasm! She also supported Krista with her Zones of Regulation children’s group, which was a summer success.

Thank you both for everything you contributed this summer. We love having you as part of the Balance team and wish you an amazing year ahead! 💙🪷

Balance Psychology Clinic had the pleasure of collaborating with Les P’tits Imprimés, a student-run business at École des Éclaireurs in Fredericton. Supported by Mr. Jean-Charles, the students demonstrated outstanding entrepreneurial skills by designing and producing products using 3D printing technology.

Our first collaboration involved creating custom fidgets featuring our clinic’s lotus logo. The students presented prototypes, participated in discussions regarding design and pricing, and successfully delivered a high-quality final product. These interactions also provided an opportunity to recognize their leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.

Later, as part of our annual participation in the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) awareness walk, we partnered with the students to create red sneaker fidgets inspired by the Red Shoes Rock movement. These fidgets were very well received by participants and families attending the event. This collaboration was a wonderful example of community partnership, and we sincerely thank the students and Mr. Jean-Charles for their creativity, professionalism, and dedication.
