Special Olympics New Brunswick

Special Olympics New Brunswick Dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with an intellectual disability through sport for more than 40 years!

Special Olympics New Brunswick operates out of the Capital region with three full-time staff. As a charitable Not-For-Profit organization we have and continue to offer athletic opportunities to thousands of New Brunswickers with an intellectual disability. Our athletes and volunteers are continually building social, physical, and cognitive skills through participation in recreational and competitive sport. Way to go Harbour View High School Unified!!! ❤️

🎉 Big News for Unified Sports in Greater Saint John!

A huge congratulations to HV STAFF Mrs. Debbie Squires, Mrs. Leeann McFarlane, and Mrs. Kathleen Beamish, who recently collaborated on a grant application to support the growth of Unified Sports across the four Greater Saint John high schools offering teams next year—and we’re excited to share that they RECEIVED THE FULL GRANT AMOUNT of $28,000! 🏆

Five years ago, these dedicated educators helped launch Unified Sports in ASD-S, first with a single basketball team. Since then, the program has grown tremendously in participation with so many schools getting on board, popularity, and opportunities, expanding to include basketball, soccer, and cheerleading.

Unified Sports brings students of all abilities together as teammates, creating an environment where inclusion, friendship, leadership, and school spirit thrive. It is a powerful movement that demonstrates the strength of belonging and the impact of creating opportunities for everyone to participate and succeed.

This funding will help ensure that even more students across Greater Saint John can experience the life-changing benefits of Unified Sports in the coming year.

Thank you, Debbie, Leeann, and Kathleen, for your leadership, passion, and commitment to building a more inclusive community through sport. Your work is making a lasting difference! 💕🥳👏🏽
