Have you ever noticed how easy it is to believe that life will feel different after the next thing happens?

After work settles down, retirement, the kids are older, or you've lost the weight.

Sometimes those seasons do come. But that lasting change rarely begins because life finally cooperates. It often begins when we stop waiting for a different season and start making choices within the one we're already living.

That doesn't mean doing more or trying harder. Sometimes it starts with understanding why you've been feeling so much resistance in the first place.

That's what we're talking about in Episode 170, Living Your Life, Not Waiting for Life.

It was delicious and not something I’d eat every day. I skipped the bread and shared a dessert along with celebrating the married couple.

Would you eat the flower?

Happy. Confident. Peaceful. Healthy.

Sometimes we unknowingly attach those feelings to something we hope will happen in the future.

"If this happens, then I'll finally..."

It's such an easy pattern to fall into because it feels logical.

In this week's episode, we're talking about what happens when we stop waiting for our circumstances to change before giving ourselves permission to fully live.

I don't think healthy habits are contagious. I think perspective is.

Spend enough time around women who believe one difficult day means they've failed, and it's easy to start believing it too. Or spend time around women who see that same day as a chance to learn, adjust, and carry on, and something begins to change.

You stop expecting perfection from yourself and making every setback mean something about who you are. You simply get better at continuing.

That's one of the unexpected benefits of being part of a coaching community.

You don't just learn from me…you learn from watching other women navigate real life in a healthier, more intentional way.

If that sounds like the kind of support you've been looking for, I'd love to meet you.

I think we underestimate how good it feels to let our parasympathetic nervous system take over for a while.

What puts you in relaxation mode?

Many of us grew up hearing, "Clean your plate then you can..."

For some families, that message came from love. For others, it came from a time when food was scarce. Either way the one saying it probably thought they were being responsible as a parent or grandparent.

Understanding where that belief came from can help us decide whether it still serves us today.

One of my favorite moments in this conversation was hearing my daughter explain how she naturally stops eating when she's had enough. It's a reminder that listening to our bodies is a skill worth practicing... and one many of us can relearn.

One thing I wish more women realized is that low energy doesn't just affect how you feel…it changes the decisions you make.

When you're exhausted, your protective brain naturally looks for the quickest way to conserve energy and feel better in the moment.

That's why the walk gets skipped, the drive-thru sounds easier, or the evening on the couch wins.

Your brain is trying to help in the fastest way it knows how. But the good news is that this isn't where the story has to end.

When you understand what's happening, you can start making choices that support both your body and your future self.

Having energy is getting more out of life.

If you're curious about what that could look like for you, I'd love to meet you. Book a complimentary consult, and together we'll explore what's making healthy choices feel harder than they need to. Click the link in the comments to pick the most convenient schedule for you.

If you haven't heard it before, I don't frequently republish podcast episodes.

But after visiting my daughter recently and listening back to this conversation we recorded together a few years ago, I knew it was worth sharing again.

The topics haven't changed: we're still navigating stress, figuring out our relationship with food, and learning how our habits influence the people around us.

Whether you’ve heard it before or not, I think you'll find it just as relevant today.

One of the greatest gifts my parents gave me was love. They also gave me perspective.

Watching their health journeys influenced some of the decisions I've made for my own life.

Not because I wanted to judge the way they lived…because every generation has the opportunity to learn something new.

I think that's one of the beautiful things about life: we can honour where we came from while choosing a different path moving forward.

🎧 I share more of that personal story in Episode 168 of the Feel Light Mind and Body podcast. The link is in the comments.
