Think about the last time you felt truly understood by someone.

Not just heard. Understood. Where you didn't have to explain the context or soften the edges or worry about how you were coming across. Where you could just be exactly where you were and it was enough.

That feeling is one of the most protective things we have for our mental health.

Research consistently links close, genuine relationships to lower rates of anxiety and depression, stronger resilience, and a greater ability to cope with life's hardest moments.

You don't need a large circle. You just need one person who really knows you.

Swipe through to learn why that connection matters so much, and what it actually gives us.

Getting older doesn't mean your story is finished.

It means a new chapter is beginning. One that can still hold growth, healing, new relationships, rediscovered passions, and a deeper understanding of who you are.

Most older Canadians report positive mental health. And yet later life can also bring real challenges — grief, loneliness, changes in identity, experiences from the past finally surfacing. These things deserve care and attention, not just acceptance.

Registered Psychotherapist Aviva Boxer writes honestly and warmly about mental wellness in later life — what it really means, what challenges are worth taking seriously, and why therapy can be just as meaningful at 75 as at any other age.

This one is for older adults, and for the families and friends who love them. Read it at the link: https://bit.ly/4hp7N7k

Work doesn't have to be your passion. But it shouldn't come at the expense of your mental health either.

If you've been noticing the signs — the dread, the exhaustion, the irritability with people you love, the feeling that you don't want to spend the next ten years like this — that's important information worth taking seriously.

In her latest article, Registered Psychotherapist Aviva Boxer explores what happens when work starts taking more than it gives. What you can control, what you can't, and how to start thinking honestly about what you actually want from your working life.

It's one of the more honest pieces we've shared. Read it at the link: https://bit.ly/4y5nJCK

There's something about the shift into fall that can make connection feel harder to come by.

Summer has its own loose, warm rhythm. And then September arrives, routines return, and the spontaneous connection of warmer months quietly fades.

If you've been feeling a little more isolated than usual, that's completely understandable. Seasonal transitions affect us more than we often give them credit for.

But connection is still within reach. It starts with one small, intentional reach-out. A message to someone you've been thinking about. A plan to meet up before the season gets too busy. A conversation you've been putting off.

You don't have to wait for things to feel easier. Sometimes reaching out is what makes them easier.

And if the quiet has felt like something deeper, NuVista is here. Visit https://bit.ly/3OKnWKk

Fall arrives and suddenly everything is full again.

Work, school, family, obligations — the pace picks up fast. And the first thing that tends to slip is the quiet attention we give to ourselves.

Before the season takes over completely, take a breath. Check in. Ask yourself how you're really doing and what you actually need right now.

That small moment of honesty with yourself matters more than most people give it credit for.

One of the most common reasons people put off therapy isn't stigma. It's not knowing where to begin.

Not knowing what's wrong. Not knowing what kind of help they need. Not knowing if what they're feeling is serious enough to warrant reaching out.

If any of that sounds familiar, this one's for you.

You don't have to arrive with answers. A good therapist doesn't expect that. They expect you to show up, and they'll help you work out the rest from there.

Swipe through for a warm, honest guide to asking for support when you're not sure where to start.

If you've spent years in high-stress service as a first responder, a veteran, or in any role that required you to stay alert, stay ready, and keep going no matter what, your nervous system has been shaped by that experience.

The hypervigilance. The difficulty truly switching off. The way ordinary situations can feel more heightened than they should. These aren't signs of weakness or something broken. They're the nervous system responding to years of sustained stress in the only way it knew how.

And for many people, those responses don't simply fade when the role ends. They follow you into civilian life, into relationships, into the quieter moments where you finally have time to notice them.

Understanding what's happening in your nervous system is a meaningful first step. And getting support that truly understands your experience is the next one.

NuVista offers specialized, evidence-informed care for first responders and veterans. Learn more at https://bit.ly/3OKnWKk.

As the new school year gets underway, some families are noticing challenges that didn't feel as visible over the summer. Difficulty with focus, reading, organization, or keeping up despite working hard.

If that sounds familiar, a psychoeducational assessment can help you understand why. It goes beyond grades to look at how your child thinks, learns, and processes information, and gives you, their teachers, and their care team a clear, practical picture of what support would actually help.

At NuVista, our assessments are conducted by licensed psychologists and tailored to each child's unique needs. We look at cognitive abilities, academic skills, attention, executive functioning, and emotional factors, then translate the findings into clear recommendations and school strategies you can use.

Available for school-age children, teens, and young adults. NuVista collaborates with both private and public schools to support the full picture.

This September, in recognition of Su***de Prevention Month, we want to talk about something that matters deeply and is often left unsaid.

The conversations worth having.

Talking openly about su***de can help save lives.

Asking someone directly if they are thinking about su***de does not increase their risk. It can create an opportunity for them to share what they're experiencing and receive support.

If you're worried about someone, ask directly, listen without judgment, and take their response seriously. If they are thinking about su***de, stay with them and help connect them with immediate support.

In Canada, call or text 9-8-8 for su***de crisis support, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If someone's safety is at immediate risk, call 9-1-1.

You do not need to manage this alone.

Swipe through for some gentle, low-pressure ways to reconnect after a quieter season.
