The thing nobody says out loud is that most “wellness” content is built for someone with about 4 more hours of free time per day than the average mom has. ☕

If your routine collapses the second a kid gets sick, or a meeting runs long, or you didn’t sleep, it was never a real routine. It was a fantasy. Real wellness for moms has to survive a hard week, or it isn’t wellness, it’s another quiet way to feel behind.

If you ever feel like the list of “bad” foods is growing faster than you can keep up with, that’s because it is. Fear is profitable. Nuance is not. 🍞

I eat all of the things on this list, regularly, as a dietitian. None of them are problems. The actual problem is the cultural anxiety we’ve wrapped around them, which does way more damage than the food ever could.

It’s a fueling problem, and it almost always traces back to what did or didn’t happen at breakfast. You can’t shame your way out of this. You can only fuel your way out of it.

I get to decide what stops here. My daughter is going to hear a lot of things in her life. She isn’t going to hear me grade my body, or apologize for eating, or call myself “bad” for having dessert. Not because I’m perfect, but because I know exactly how long those phrases live in a kid’s head.

Hot mom summer? Pass. I want the kind of summer where I can grab an ice cream cone with my kids and it’s just... a nice moment. Not a spiral. Not a “well, I already blew it” situation. Just a memory.

That kind of food freedom doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built on a foundation of actually nourishing your body well, so one treat doesn’t send everything sideways.
