Have you ever found yourself staying extra busy when something is weighing on you? Or reaching for your phone, food, a drink, or anything really, right when an uncomfortable feeling starts to surface?
That's something almost every person does.
When something feels painful, overwhelming, or just unwanted on the inside ( a thought, a feeling, a memory, a physical sensation) a part of us naturally tries to get away from it. We distract. We avoid. We push through. We tell ourselves we're fine.
It makes sense. In the moment, it brings relief. Moving away from something uncomfortable "works" - at least for a while.
The tricky part is that the more we move away from certain feelings, the more space those feelings can seem to take up. Over time, we might find ourselves building our days, and sometimes our whole lives, around "not" feeling certain things. And that can quietly shrink what's available to us. The things we say no to. The risks we don't take. The conversations we keep steering away from.
What if, instead of moving away from the feeling, you could simply be with it for a moment? When we stop spending so much energy trying to keep certain feelings out, something opens up. There's more room to move toward the things that actually matter to you, even when something hard is present at the same time.
You might notice moments in our sessions where something arises and there's a pull to change the subject, to laugh it off, or to move on quickly. That's completely okay - and it can also be worth getting curious about together. Those moments aren't problems. They're often exactly where something important lives. We'll go at your pace, and you'll always have a say in what we explore. The goal is never to make you feel more pain - it's to help you feel less alone with what's already there.
