I love what I do. I had the honor of facilitating a workshop on exploring connection with the amazing humans who do the hard work internally to be of service of others.

We co-created an experience because of their willingness to lean in and find out the immense wealth of knowledge our bodies have and what is available to us in the present when we get curious.

Learning about what gets in the way of connection is more information. What we “don’t get” is not good, bad, right or wrong. It is just something interesting to know. These brave people leaned in and got curious and I was lucky to get to lean in with them.

Thank you .west for including me in the amazing work you are doing👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I’m honoured to be WITH the people who sit on this couch!
💕
Our clients are willing to lean in an do the hard work of supporting their mental health and understanding what their bodies are trying to tell them.
💕
Mental Health is understanding thr language of what your body is trying to tell you. What is yet to be expressed.
💕
Courage is needed when we are willing to be still and listen to what needs to be heard.
💕
If you need support on your mental health journey call our clinic 905-702-1944.

Posted • This program isn't just about having conversations about race.

This is a program to learn about you and what gets in the way around these conversations.

What are the things we have downloaded about ourselves AND other races?
❤️
What are the emotions, sensations, beliefs and thoughts that we have....that we don't always know we are having when we even think about having a conversation about race.

✅ Change starts with ourselves✅

✨We need to look at what we see AND don't see within ourselves, with curiousity and compassion, so we can know what we see AND don't see outside of ourselves.
❤️

This is the program I created as it was the steps I took on my journey with my relationship with my own race and other races.

✨My intention for my program is connection✨

❤️Humans connecting to other Humans and finding a common language to create change.

☝🏽Join me! The program starts May 11th! DM me for more information!

On Black Mental Health Day, we are called to recognize the ongoing impact on mental health that results from experiences of anti-Black racism. It is also a day to raise awareness of the specific mental health needs of Black communities across Ontario.

Join me for a Zoom live event organized by the Durham Catholic District School Board on March 7, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. where I will be presenting - I Think, Therefore I Am.

I am excited to share that I will be the Keynote Speaker for the Durham Catholic District School Board for Black Mental Health Day on March 7th, 2022.
This is a day to recognize and normalize metal health in the Black communities in Ontario. Supporting conversations like this is near and dear to my heart. By talking and connecting with others through my story I was able to find out who I was...apart from my mental health. Our experiences give us strength and I believe it is through embracing the impact of our histories that we can see who we are and heal.

This is a quote from Audre Lorde. She was a writer, feminist, civil rights activist, le***an and poet. To me this quote means that we can learn so much through leaning and into difference. We sacrifice growth when we remain in our safe and well known comfort zones.
You won't know what you will learn about yourself by staying with what is familiar.
This feels true when we are talking about our personal development, or reaching that next level in our careers or taking on a new project or adventure.
Learning about people that are different, with different views, cultures, experiences somehow feels harder. But it doesn't have to be.
When we remain curious about difference we will likely find a new awareness within ourselves we did not previously know.
Celebrate difference!
Notice what you experience within yourself when you learn something new that you didn't know before.

Today is the start of Black History Month in Canada and the theme for 2022 is
February and Forever: Celebrating Black History Today and Everyday
To me this means understanding how Black people have impacted our country, our society and our communities through their contributions. This is an opportunity to celebrate how Black people have created new spaces, places and opportunities by being who they are.
This is the Honourable Dr. Jean Augustine. She is the reason we have Black History month in Canada. In 1995, she advocated the unanimous vote to officially designate February as Black History Month in Canada.
She was my elementary school principal and I remember I didn't like her when she was my principal. I was one of a small handful of black kids at my school. One of those kids was a young black boy who I thought was a bit of a bully. I didn't like him, I felt like he made us black kids look bad. (talk about internalized messages)
Dr. Jean Augustine always protected him....and that made me angry. I didn't like her because of that.
But now as an adult, a psychotherapist, an anti-racism educator and a mother, I see what I didn't see before.
She protected him and let him know he was loved and that he mattered.
You are a gift Dr. Augustine, to that boy, to me and to all of those who have benefitted from you being who you are.
I am forever grateful for all you have done. Your lessons have spanned decades and will touch many lives now and forever.
Thank you.
