🎤Guest Speaker Alert! 🎤

Join us for a special Community Satsangh this week with guest speaker Dr. Kathryn Ricketts. Kathryn Ricketts, PhD, is a Full Professor and lead of Dance/Arts Ed in the Education Department at the University of Regina. For the past 40 years, Ricketts has been researching and practicing dance and visual arts performing and teaching throughout Europe, South America, Africa, Australia and Canada.

Stories, Memories and Movement is the title of a series of workshops combining personal narratives with kinesthetic expression. Ricketts leads participants through creative movement exercises that are often linked to the calendar and world events. We each tell stories of this time and then they are accompanied with a simple movement in chairs or standing that best represents that story. As we accumulate stories, we also accumulate these simple movements.

These sessions always end with extended dynamic conversations full of laughter and sometimes tears as it activates their creative muscles, imagination and then of course many more important stories always follow!

🗓 Date: Saturday, July 4
🧘‍♂️ Satsangh: 9:00 - 11:00am
🎤 Guest Talk: 10:30 - 11:00am

✨ NEW EPISODE LIVE ✨
Healing the Trauma of Colonization
"The first thing that you see in a colonized people is the erosion of self-worth. And once you remove self-worth from a person or people, then it's easy to manipulate them."
— Yogacharini Maitreyi

Yogacharini Maitreyi, founder of Arkaya Foundation, joins host Ross McKeachie for a candid conversation on how colonization erodes self-worth — and how we begin to heal. Drawing on yogic philosophy, she explores how colonial mindsets have infiltrated modern yoga culture and what it takes to return to its roots. Maitreyi also guides listeners through a live Jyoti Mudra practice and shares tools for transforming grief and anger into positive change. Part of Arkaya's annual Decolonizing Dialogues series with Banyen Books.

Topics covered: colonial trauma, self-worth, yoga appropriation, Sanskrit pronunciation, decolonized practice, emotional healing, and what a truly decolonized yoga culture could look like.

Quote of the day ✨

“The Eternal Embrace.” 🤍

Beyond name, form, identity, and all the roles we carry… there is a space within us that is untouched, still, and whole. A space where love is no longer something we seek or hold onto—but something we become.

This reflection is an invitation to soften into that stillness, to remember who you are beneath all labels, and to rest in the boundless nature of your own being. ✨

Pose of the day ✨

We invite you to try Sukhasana — the “easy pose” that invites us into something deeper. 🌿

In its simplicity, we find the balance of effort and ease…
a steady body, a calm mind, and a gentle return inward.
It reminds us that yoga isn’t about complexity—
it’s about awareness.

The way we sit, breathe, and hold ourselves shapes how we move through life.

When we soften without collapsing and stay grounded without tension,we begin to cultivate a more centered, peaceful state of being.

Quote of the Day ✨

“Reconciliation becomes natural when both parties can embody Namaste.”
— Yogacharini Maitreyi

To embody Namaste is to recognize the divine within one another and to meet not from ego, but from presence, humility, and respect. When we truly see each other beyond our differences, reconciliation is no longer forced, it flows naturally.

This is a reminder that healing in relationships begins within. The more we cultivate awareness and compassion in ourselves, the more we create space for genuine connection and peace with others.
