In botany, the radicle is the first part of a seedling to emerge from the seed during the process of germination. They are the origin for the entire root system of the plant for its entire life.The primary root grows from the radicle and the herb then grows as the roots spread. The word radical, literally meaning 'of roots', strongly resonates with Munna's mission to educate and support people through their holistic healing journey. Herbalism is often considered a radical approach to healing, but it is also a tradition with very ancient and deep roots. Munna believes that herbs are a gift to all living creatures. They nourish, heal, and protect us. It is a valuable skill to know your local plants well enough to use them safely and respectfully. All herbs need to be treated with the respect they deserve. Many herbs require an in depth understanding to use them safely and many ailments/conditions should be treated by those qualified. One of the main goals of Radicle Root Herbs is to empower people to learn about herbs and to take their health into their own hands. We promote self healing and wellness maintenance, but also recognize the important role that qualified, experienced herbalists play in our communities. This page has been created to fulfill the goal of herbal wisdom sharing. We will be posting articles, recipes, research, folklore, questions, and much more. I am as addicted to the flowering Milkweed as the pollinators are, y'all! They are stunningly beautiful and they smell divine!! 😍

Milkweed is also one of my cherished herbal allies because their rhizome is a very effective bronchodilator that helps keep me breathing when I have an allergic asthma episode. 🥰

Summer Blooms 🌹☀️

Flowers are popping off, y'all!!! The season of botanical abundance is upon us for sure! I would be out there harvesting non-stop if I could, but honestly, the heat and wildfire smoke are making things more of a challenge this year. 🙃

Nonetheless, I am so filled with joy about how well most of the herbs are doing, and how gorgeous all the flowers are this year. The visual beauty and aromatics of plants really are magical and have their own healing power. ✨️

Herb Fair 🌿

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of teaching at, and co-hosting the annual HANB Herb Fair! I love being a part of Herbalist Association NB and working with so many other herbalists and plant lovers! 💚

Thanks so much to everyone who came out to spend the day with us. Extra thanks to folks who snapped some photos, especially since there are a couple I am not making a hilarious face in, since that is actually a rare capture when I am teaching! 😅 I taught a Herbs for Everyday Life workshop to start off the day, and then got to enjoy all the other workshops and the plant walk! 🥰

Botanical Prints 🪻🌼🌿🔨

Today I did some hammer prints of different leaves and flowers on paper with the kiddos in my Wild Child class. We learned the technique to getting clear prints of different types of plants on paper, so that later this month we can do prints on fabric. The kids learned that while hammering hard can be fun, it can also make more of a messy print. They also learned that most flowers are more delicate than most leaves, so you need to tap more gently for those. So much fun!!!

😍 FYI... it is the perfect time here for collecting balsam poplar buds! Look at those little resin drops oozing out of this bud!!! I wish y'all could smell this sweet little gem thru the screen. Truly one of my favourite smells in the world!
