Time for a Tuesday morning update, as we approach our (initial) Magnetic Moments fundraising goal.

We have have been absolutely blown away by the community’s response to and support of the Magnetic Moments campaign. Raising $6,292,390.25 to bring an MRI machine to Huron County in 10 months was possible because of our generous community.

But, you’ve no doubt heard about tariffs, inflation, supply chain challenges. Perhaps they’ve impacted a recent construction project you’ve undertaken, your business, or you’ve felt it when filling up at the pumps.

Well, they are also impacting our Magnetic Moments campaign too.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, Jimmy Trieu, President and CEO of Huron Health System, presented a project and budget update to the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Foundation’s Board of Directors and campaign cabinet, outlining the need for an additional $1,000,000 in fundraising support. This adjustment brings the campaign's total fundraising goal to $7,500,000 and reflects changing market conditions affecting project costs.

The good news is, even with this revised budget, we’re almost there. THANK YOU!

But not quite.

Please continue to support of the Magnetic Moments campaign. If you’re planning to attend or host a third-party event, please do so. Perhaps you’ve been thinking about making a donation, but haven’t yet. Now is the time. If you’re considering a gift of stocks as year end approaches, please continue planning accordingly.

We initially stated we have two years to raise the funds. But with your ongoing support, maybe we can get there sooner?

Supporting the Magnetic Moments campaign comes in a variety of ways.

Thank you to all who purchased a 50/50 ticket during their mega draw in July and inadvertently helped bring an MRI machine to Huron County.

The Kinette Club of Goderich President and Festival of Arts & Crafts 50/50 Mega Draw Chair, Alison Bell, and members of the Club were very pleased to present a cheque for $10,000 to the AMGH Foundation Magnetic Moments campaign.

Sloane, Letti, Shannon and Liam Madge along with family friend Shawna Nelemans kicked off Thanksgiving weekend with a cheque from the Harlyn Madge Memorial Fund in memory of their bright and loving seven-year-old sister and daughter who passed away after being diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2024. They were inspired to give as a result.

"What we have learnt from having a child with a brain tumor is that the symptoms can overlap with many other diagnoses. It wasn’t until the MRI was complete that the physicians had a better understanding of the severity of what was happening. Having a MRI available in a small community hospital means a quicker diagnosis for patients before being transferred to a larger facility. Within a month of Harlyn's diagnosis, she had six MRIs that impacted the treatment options for her."
