Roughly 1 in 10 Canadians experiences a communication disorder that can affect physical, mental, and social well-being. Speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and communication health assistants support Canadians across the lifespan by helping children develop communication skills, enabling adults to stay connected and engaged, and empowering seniors to live safely, independently, and maintain quality of life.
For Indigenous Peoples, access to communication health services is also connected to the continuity of language, culture, and the sharing of knowledge across generations. Access to communication health services is not equal across Canada. Indigenous communities continue to face systemic barriers. Addressing these barriers is essential to achieving equitable access for all.
Foundations Speech and Language Services are proud to work with several Indigenous communities in the Peace Country. We love working with the children from these nations and assisting them with all their speech and language needs.
