We received nearly 500 applications in 2025, and we can increase our capacity to admit more than 30% of applicants by 2027.🤝

✨P – Personal Development✨

Behind every addiction is a story.

A story of pain, brokenness, loss, trauma, or wounds that were never fully healed. While sobriety is an important step, true recovery happens when people begin healing from the inside out. 💙

At Rising Above Ministries, one of the most powerful parts of our 6-month program is Personal Development through our Inner Healing process. This is where participants begin uncovering the root issues that destructive behaviours are often trying to cover up.

In every Inner Healing Session, one encounters hard emotions and difficult memories, and is able to challenge the lies they believe about themselves and find the truth that sets them free.

But this kind of transformation doesn’t happen alone.

Your support helps create a safe space for individuals to find hope beyond brokenness and discover that their future does not have to be defined by their past.

🚙Road Trip!🚙

This week, our Executive Director, Adele-Marie Diffey, and Accreditation Office Kim Peters travelled to Edmonton for the "Equipped" Conference hosted by the Canadian Centre for Christian Charities. It was a great opportunity to discuss and strengthen our policies and internal systems, and to learn new ways to help Rising Above continue to grow. 💙

They also had the chance to connect with Ministry Leaders from Alberta and Saskatchewan, as well as a few local community members from Victory Church on the Rock and McLaurin Baptist Church (tag). As an added bonus, they got to spend some time with Nolan Dyck, our local MLA!

Road trips are always better when you come back with great conversations, new connections, and lots of helpful information to keep moving forward.

What does it actually take for someone to move from surviving… to living in freedom?

For many walking through addiction recovery, the challenge isn’t just breaking old habits—it’s learning an entirely new way to live.

That’s where Rising Above steps in.

Participants spend over 9 hours each week in life skills classes, building the practical tools they need for lasting change. Because recovery isn’t just about what you leave behind—it’s about what you build moving forward.

We guide participants through learning about mental health topics, healthy relationships, time management, goal setting, and conflict resolution. We also go deeper—addressing shame, rebuilding trust, and strengthening emotional and physical health.

This is where healing and transformation begins to take root.

Instead of reacting to life, participants begin to lead it—with clarity, confidence, and purpose. They start making wise decisions, navigating challenges, and stepping into a future that once felt out of reach.

But this kind of change doesn’t happen alone.

💚Mental Health Awareness 💚

Mental health and addiction often go hand in hand. Many individuals struggling with addiction are also carrying the weight of anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health challenges.

At Rising Above, we believe recovery is about more than breaking free from addiction—it’s about healing the whole person. Through our HELPS model and Inner Healing, we walk alongside men and women as they experience healing.

Mental Health Awareness reminds us that no one should have to struggle alone. Healing is possible, hope is real, and asking for help is a sign of strength. 🤝

Together, we can break the stigma and create a community where recovery and mental wellness are supported with compassion and understanding.

🏠Rising Higher Update🎉

We’re getting close… our new building is about a month away!

It’s hard to believe that just one year ago we broke ground, and now we’re almost ready to move in. What an incredible milestone!

Our team is already preparing for the transition—getting ready for orientation, training, setting up rooms, and creating a space that will soon become home for the men who will begin their journey of recovery and transformation. We are going to be moving both men and women on to one property!🌱

As we step into this next chapter, we would love your support. This beautiful facility will allow us to serve more individuals and equip them with the tools they need to overcome cycles of defeat and build a new future.

✨E - Employment Readiness✨

What happens after recovery?

For many, this is where the fear sets in. How do you rebuild a life? Find stability? Step into something meaningful.

At Rising Above, we don’t leave that question unanswered.
Through our Employment Readiness program, participants spend 12 -40 hours each week preparing for life beyond recovery—because lasting change requires more than healing, it requires opportunity.
We walk alongside them as they gain real-world experience through partnerships with local employers and training agencies

This is about more than a résumé. It’s about rediscovering dignity, responsibility, and servant leadership. It is also an opportunity to test themselves and their current capacities, while living in a safe, sober space with an active support system for their recovery.
