Doctors EyeCare Grande Prairie Dr. Shonah Finlay Locally owned full service optical clinic in Grande Prairie dedicated to personalized eye care and styling you in frames that are as unique as yourself!

Dr. Shonah Finlay grew up by the gold mines in South Africa and knew from a young age she wanted to follow a medically related career. She studied optometry at the former Rand Afrikaans University in South Africa. Dr. Shonah worked on the Train of Hope: South Africa’s Phelophepa. This custom-built train (now 2) travels throughout rural South Africa to deliver top-quality primary healthcare to disa

dvantaged communities. Due to her special fondness for children, Dr. Shonah also trained in and ran a branch of the Wise Eye Reading Clinic to provide a means of measuring reading dysfunction with a visograph and devising a treatment plan for those children struggling with reading problems. Afterwards Dr. Shonah moved to the Twin Islands of Trinidad and Tobago and spent a wonderful 8 years working, playing, and scuba diving. In this magical environment, she was exposed to and developed a special interest in many serious eye diseases, the most prevalent being glaucoma, diabetes, and keratoconus. It once again became time for Dr. Shonah to broaden her horizons, and the magnificent landscapes of Canada called. She was accepted into the International Bridging Program hosted through the University of Waterloo. After completing her bridging she accepted a position in Grande Prairie, AB and opened Doctors EyeCare Grande Prairie in 2019. Her mission is to provide the best possible comprehensive eye care for all our patients by remaining current with the latest technology and sourcing brands from around the world to bring unique styles to the area. We are happy to provide comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings and lessons, professional eyewear styling, dry eye assessments and treatments, medical grade eye drops and a wide variety of frames!
