To The Point Acupuncture, Grande Prairie, AB. Dr Kari Pettersen, Dr. Ac Kari is a Registered Acupuncturist with the College and Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta (CAAA).

She graduated from Grant MacEwan University and shortly after returned home to Grande Prairie. She started her business in 2012 and has been practicing in the Grande Prairie for 9 years; she is looking forward to expanding her business in the future. Kari has a passion for travel, adventure and connecting with others. After high school she worked in the service industry while attending Grande Prai

rie Regional College and traveling around the world. It was through travel that she experienced the healing capabilities of acupuncture. While surfing in Nicaragua, she was stung in the arm by a stingray, resulting in nerve damage and debilitating pain. After a year of taking medication the pain was still fluctuating so she decided to seek out other therapies. Acupuncture helped ease her pain to the point that she could get off her nerve medication and after 10 treatments the pain was gone. It was through her own experience with acupuncture that led her to continue on that path to a career. Forever a student, she has several certificates in sports medicine acupuncture as well as fertility and hormonal acupuncture. Her goal to continue her education to become more specialized in obstetrics, gynaecology and fertility in 2020. She has recently completed the A to Z Guide to Using Acupuncture in Pregnancy and Childbirth Course as well as the course 12 Points for Restoration and Balance Approach to Trauma Treatment. Currently she is taking the course Acupuncture Strategies to Dramatically Improve IVF Success. In addition to acupuncture courses, she has also completed a certificate in Tuina Massage and Moxibustion for Menstrual & Fertility Issues. She became interested in fertility and hormonal acupuncture when she helped her first fertility patient conceive. After that, many women and men started seeking her help and she saw a huge need in the Grande Prairie area. Helping women and men to feel their best and achieve their goals of having a family has been a huge drive in her passion to continue her specialization.

It is a beautiful summer day in the clinic today!

If glowing, radiant skin is on your summer wish list—now is the time to start ✨

Cosmetic acupuncture works with your body’s natural rhythm. It takes about 28 days for new collagen to form, and a series of treatments helps build that healthy, luminous glow from within.

Starting now means your skin has the time it needs to become clearer, brighter, and more vibrant just in time for summer.
If you’ve been thinking about it, consider this your gentle nudge to book in 🌿

What’s included in Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Each treatment includes full-body acupuncture with hot towels for your face to support circulation and relaxation.

Then tiny needles are inserted in the face followed by Celluma Red Light Therapy gently over the face while you rest with the needles.

Then skin care is applied and is completely customized using organic or anti-aging skincare, chosen for your skin that day.

Depending on your booking, you’ll also receive a gua sha facial (short or extended), or you can upgrade to a hydrating hydrojelly mask for an extra glow.

A deeply restorative treatment designed to leave you feeling radiant—inside and out ✨

We have something new in the clinic that I’m really excited to share with you.

I’ve brought in Aqueue Skincare, a beautiful line out of Toronto created by a registered acupuncturist, Stephanie from Holistic Skn. It’s a thoughtful blend of ancient wisdom and modern, science-based skincare—designed to truly support and transform the skin from a deeper level.

This allows me to not only tailor your treatments more specifically to your skin when you’re in the clinic, but also to offer products that can continue supporting your results at home—like an extension of the work we do together.
You may also notice a few subtle changes around the clinic. We felt it was time for a little refresh—bringing in some new energy for the spring season.

Is it just me or does it feel like this winter is never ending?

The good new is, spring has to come .. and hopefully it is right around the corner.

If you're starting to feel that shift ( or really craving it)
this is such a good time to support your body as it transitions out of winter.

If you are looking for some simple ways to move into spring with a little more ease, I've got your back.

Read my blog here.

By Kari Pettersen March is here and spring is fast approaching. You can already feel it in the air. The days are getting longer and there’s a lot more warmer days than cold days. Who doesn’t love spring flowers and sun soaked days especially after the long winters we have?! The Chinese, in their

About 1 in 8 women in Canada will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. This means it’s very likely that someone you love—a friend, family member, or colleague—will be affected.

A breast cancer diagnosis and its treatment can be physically and emotionally challenging. Acupuncture can be a gentle, supportive therapy that helps improve quality of life by easing side effects of chemotherapy, reducing pain, and supporting healing and recovery after treatment or surgery.

If you or someone you care about is navigating this journey, you’re not alone. Learn more about how acupuncture may offer support in my latest blog post.

By Kari Pettersen It is estimated that about 1 in 8 women in Canada will develop breast cancer during their lifetime. This statistic shocked me when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had no idea how prevalent it was. This means it is likely that at least one woman in your life will be di

🌿 Spondylosis, Muscle Shortening & How Acupuncture Helps 🌿

In spondylosis (spinal degeneration), the nerves don’t always send strong signals to the muscles around the spine. Without proper stimulation, these muscles begin to shorten and weaken, almost like a plant shriveling without enough water.

As the paraspinal muscles shrink, they pull the vertebrae closer together, which increases pressure on the nerve roots. This creates a cycle: less nerve flow → more muscle shortening → more compression → more pain and stiffness.

✨ Acupuncture helps break this cycle.
By improving circulation and nerve communication, acupuncture encourages those shortened spinal muscles to relax and lengthen again. It also reduces inflammation, eases nerve irritation, and restores balance to the spinal segment.

Patients often notice:
✔️ Less pain and stiffness
✔️ Improved posture and mobility
✔️ Decreased nerve irritation (numbness/tingling)
✔️ Better overall spinal support

Think of acupuncture as a way to rehydrate and revive the “wilted” muscles around the spine—helping them support and protect your vertebrae more effectively. 🌱

Seasonal Shifts! They are hard. Days are getting shorter and weather is getting crisper. This is a time of shifting energy from yang energy to yin energy. A time of slowing down, getting rest and being kind to yourself. We change with the seasons so read here to learn what is happening in the body in the fall and how to stay healthy this fall with some TCM widsom.

By Kari Pettersen Fall is one of my favourite times of the year. The heat and activity of summer always burns me out and I look forward to going slower in the fall. If we look to nature we see that this is the time of the year that animals finish their harvest and store food to get ready for appro
