On September 30, SAOT joins people across Canada in recognizing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

Today, we honour the Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and acknowledge the families and communities who continue to be impacted by the residential school system.

Reconciliation requires more than reflection. It calls on us to listen, learn, build meaningful relationships, and take action. As occupational therapists, we recognize the importance of culturally safe, respectful, and responsive practice and our ongoing responsibility to learn from Indigenous Peoples, communities, and perspectives.

Today and every day, we remain committed to the ongoing work of truth and reconciliation.
