Those who dedicate their time and resources to caring for someone with Alzheimer's often feel abandoned and neglected by their families and friends. Out of love, duty, necessity, or some combo of the three they put their own lives on hold to care for a person who is deteriorating right in front of their eyes. This person is often combative and sometimes downright abusive in their words and actions but are also utterly dependent on their caregiver for things like food, cleanliness, and leaving the house. How can we as friends and family support these people, or, if we are the caregiver, what are some signs that we're burning out and need to ask for help?
