🏡 Keeping Our Residents Connected & Informed 🏡

We’re pleased to be hosting a Municipal Candidate Meet & Greet for our residents!

We believe it’s important that our residents have opportunities to stay informed about what’s happening in our local community. This event will give residents the chance to meet the municipal candidates, hear about local issues, and ask questions in a comfortable and welcoming setting.

We’re proud to support our residents in remaining engaged, informed, and connected to the community they call home. A wonderful opportunity for conversation, connection, and civic engagement among our residents!

Today, we pause to honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, their families, and Indigenous communities across Canada.

Truth and Reconciliation calls on each of us to listen, learn, remember, and reflect on our shared history—and on the steps we can take toward a more respectful and inclusive future.

Our team stands together today in recognition and remembrance, wearing orange as a symbol of our commitment to Every Child Matters.

🏆 INCREDIBLE NEWS: We Won the 2026 ORCA Innovation Award! 🏆
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our home has been named the winner of the 2026 ORCA Innovation Award at this year’s ! 🎉

Our team was recognized for our pioneering “Green is Clean” initiative, developed in proud partnership with Hygienic Echo.

At the heart of the initiative is Green Badge, an electronic hand-hygiene system designed specifically for congregate living. By providing staff with real-time reminders to perform hand hygiene every 15 minutes, Green Badge helps strengthen infection prevention in the shared spaces where our residents live, dine, socialize, and connect.

We are especially grateful to Geoff from Hygienic Echo, who accepted the award on our behalf, and to Alexandria Ojha for her incredible dedication and efforts in helping bring this initiative to life. 👏

A huge thank you to ORCA, our partners at Hygienic Echo, our dedicated staff, and our wonderful residents and families. This recognition is a testament to what can happen when innovation, teamwork, and resident safety come together. ❤️

🦽✨Keeping our residents safe and comfortable is in the details.
We recently welcomed Ontario Wheelchair for a walker inspection and cleaning clinic, giving residents the opportunity to have their mobility aids checked, cleaned, and maintained.

Supporting our residents’ safety, comfort, and independence is something we work on every day, in ways both big and small. Thank you to the Ontario Wheelchair team for helping us with this initiative!

🎭 A little late in sharing, but too meaningful not to celebrate...
On September 12, we were honoured to support I’m Still Here, a powerful afternoon that brought our community together around an important message: individuals living with cognitive impairment are still here. They are still individuals with stories, identities, feelings, relationships and so much to contribute.

A heartfelt thank you to the talented actors who brought this important message to life, to the Gravenhurst Opera House for helping make the event possible, and to everyone in our community who came out to support the production.

We were grateful to be part of an afternoon that encouraged understanding, compassion and connection — and that reminded us of the importance of seeing the person, not just the diagnosis.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a meaningful experience for our residents and our community. ❤️

🥧 Shirley’s Special Tarts Are Back! 💕
It seems Shirley and our Culinary Supervisor have been at it again! 👩‍🍳👩‍🍳

There’s something pretty special about seeing a favourite tradition continue and that tradition involves the delicious Maid of Honour tarts suggested by Shirley. 🥰

With a little baking magic, some teamwork, and plenty of love, another batch was made just for her to share with others. And judging by the smiles, we’d say they were a big success! ❤️

We love these little moments that make life at The Alexander Muskoka Residence so special. Thank you to our culinary team for always finding ways to make our residents feel celebrated and cared for.

Who knows… perhaps another batch will be in the oven before too long! 😉🥧
