STOP LOOKING FOR CLOSURE FROM THE PERSON WHO CAUSED THE DAMAGE.

Never look for closure from someone who hurt you.

Never look for answers from the same person who lied to you.

Sometimes, we keep going back because we think if they could just explain why… we could finally move forward.

But your healing doesn’t require their explanation.

You don’t need them to admit what they did.
You don’t need them to understand the pain they caused.
You don’t need an apology to validate what you experienced.

Sometimes, the answer is simply this:

They showed you who they were. Believe what you experienced.

Closure doesn’t always come from a conversation.

Sometimes, closure comes from choosing yourself.

From accepting what you cannot change.
From releasing the need to understand every why.
From setting boundaries.
From walking away from what continues to disturb your peace.

Remember…

Peace comes from self-respect.
Strength comes from knowing your worth.
Freedom comes when you stop looking outside yourself for the answers you already know.

You don’t need someone who hurt you to give you permission to heal.

Choose you. Know your worth. Protect your peace. And keep moving forward.

DEFINE YOURSELF

There comes a moment when defining yourself requires more than words.

It requires a decision followed by action!

A decision that is aligned with your soul.
Your purpose.
Your values.
The person you know you are becoming.

And sometimes, that decision will cost you.

You may be rejected.

You may be given an ultimatum.

You may be forced into a choice you never wanted to make:

You or them.

Choosing yourself may mean walking away from everything familiar. It may mean giving up relationships, comfort, security, or the life you once believed you were supposed to live.

And yes, people may talk about you behind closed doors.

They may create a version of your story that makes your freedom look like betrayal.

They may work hard to convince others that you are the problem because accepting your truth would require them to look at their own behavior.

Control is not love.

People who feel secure within themselves do not need to control another person’s choices. They do not need to recruit an audience to validate their version of the story.

Sometimes your greatest act of self-respect is allowing people to misunderstand you.

You don’t have to defend yourself in every room where your name is spoken.

You don’t have to shrink your happiness so someone else can remain comfortable.

And you don’t have to abandon yourself just to keep someone else from abandoning you.

Stay true to yourself—even when your happiness infuriates people who benefited from your unhappiness.

Let them talk.

Let them misunderstand.

Let them choose their version of you.

Your responsibility is to choose the life that is aligned with who you truly are.

Because defining yourself isn’t about convincing the world who you are.

It’s about refusing to let the world decide for you.

W.I.M. SPOTLIGHT | WOMEN IN MISSION

Areeda Mohammed Fuller
Owner & Founder of “De Spice Is Right”

Some women build businesses. Others build businesses while quietly building communities around them. Areeda is one of those women.

Her journey began long before “De Spice Is Right” ever existed.

Growing up in San Fernando, Trinidad, Areeda was surrounded by the sights, aromas, and flavours of incredible food. Her mother owned a restaurant, and her father owned one as well. Food wasn’t simply something her family enjoyed—it was a passion, a tradition, and a way of bringing people together.

When Areeda moved to Canada in 1994, that passion came with her.

With a background that includes studies in Psychology and Sociology, Early Childhood Education, Human Resources, and Emergency Management, Areeda has built a life centred around two things she loves most: working with children and helping people.

She spent 10 years working in Early Childhood Education, followed by more than 9 years in disaster management with the Canadian Red Cross.

But there was another dream she never let go of.

In the late 1990s, while working full-time, Areeda began her catering business. What started as a passion project grew into catering for events and private parties—while she simultaneously gave her time to fundraising and community organizations, including Relay for Life, Easter Seals, Heart & Stroke, the Early Childhood Education Board at Cambrian College, and NOFCC—Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer.

Then, in 2021, Areeda took another leap.

She ventured into the world of sauces and spices and created “De Spice Is Right”

What began as a dream inspired by her Trinidadian roots has grown into a successful business supported by customers locally, across Canada, and beyond.

And the recognition has followed.

In 2025, Areeda was nominated for the Sudbury Community Awards, where she proudly took home the Platinum Award in the Spices/Food & Drink category.

Today, she is working to expand her product line and bring even more of her unique flavours and spices to people both near and far.

Want to experience her flavours for yourself?

You can find De Spice Is Right products at Adoro Oils & Vinegar and Good Grab Catering in the Sudbury area.

But when you ask Areeda what she loves most, the answer isn’t necessarily about business.

She loved kids and showing love to the people she cares for through food.

That may be the secret ingredient behind everything she does.

From her Trinidadian roots and a childhood surrounded by the love of food, to caring for children, giving back to her community, and building a thriving business of her own, Areeda’s journey is a beautiful reflection of passion, perseverance, service, and purpose. Beyond her accomplishments as an entrepreneur and community leader, she is a devoted wife, stepmom, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. At the heart of everything she does is her love for people—nurturing, supporting, connecting, and showing those she cares about just how much they mean to her, often through one of her greatest expressions of love: food.

She didn’t just bring her flavours to Canada. She brought her heart.

Today, W.I.M. celebrates Areeda Mohammed Fuller—a woman who continues to turn her passion into purpose, one flavour, one connection, and one act of kindness at a time.

This is what it means to be a Woman in Mission.

Have you ever felt like you’re doing everything you’re “supposed” to do… yet something still feels off?

That’s often the difference between success and purpose.

Purpose isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about living in alignment with who you truly are—not who you were conditioned to become.

So how do you know if you’re on the right path?

You feel a deep sense of peace, even when life is challenging.
You make decisions from your values instead of fear.
You stop seeking constant approval because your direction comes from within.
Your energy expands rather than drains.
You begin attracting people and opportunities that align with the person you’re becoming.

And how do you know you’re not?

You constantly feel exhausted trying to prove yourself.
You keep chasing goals that never feel fulfilling.
You ignore your intuition because you’re afraid of disappointing others.
You live according to expectations instead of your own truth.

The truth is, many of us spend years living a life that was programmed for us—by family, society, culture, or past experiences.

Your purpose isn’t hidden somewhere outside of you.

It’s waiting underneath the layers of conditioning you’ve been carrying.

When you reconnect with your authentic self, life begins to feel different. Not necessarily easier—but meaningful.

Purpose isn’t measured by your title, income, or the applause you receive.

It’s measured by how fully you become yourself.

The question isn’t, “What should I do with my life?”

The better question is…

Who am I becoming through the life I’m living?

There comes a moment for many women in their 40s and 50s when they look in the mirror and quietly ask:

**"Who am I now?"**

For years, you've been the mom.
The wife.
The caregiver.
The one everyone depends on.

You poured your energy into raising children, supporting a partner, building a home, or caring for aging parents. Somewhere along the way, your own dreams, passions, and identity took a back seat.

Then one day, life changes.

The kids need you less.
Relationships shift.
Caregiving roles end.
And you're left wondering why you feel... invisible.

The truth is, you haven't lost yourself.
You've simply become disconnected from the woman beneath the roles you've been playing.

Your identity was never meant to be defined solely by what you do for others.

This season isn't the end of your story—it's your invitation to rediscover the woman you were before the world told you who you had to be.

It's time to remember your voice.
Reconnect with your purpose.
And create a life that is about **who you are**, not just what you do.

Because the most powerful chapter of your life doesn't begin when everyone else needs you.

It begins when **you choose yourself.**

If this resonates with you, comment ME below or send me a message. I'd love to help you rediscover the incredible woman who's been there all along.

Some of the most damaging comments in a relationship are disguised as humor.

“I was just joking.”
“You’re too sensitive.”
“Can’t you take a joke?”

These aren’t harmless phrases when they’re used to avoid accountability.

A backhanded comment followed by “it was just a joke” isn’t humor—it’s often a way to test boundaries while shifting the blame onto the person who was hurt.

Another red flag is when one partner repeatedly makes fun of the other in public. Everyone laughs, but it’s often an uncomfortable laugh. The target smiles to avoid making a scene, while quietly absorbing embarrassment.

Then later, when they say, “That hurt me,” they’re told they’re overreacting, too emotional, or too sensitive.

Healthy relationships don’t require one person to shrink so the other can get a laugh.

Respect doesn’t disappear when there’s an audience.

If your partner feels humiliated by something you said, the mature response isn’t to defend the joke—it’s to understand the impact.

Pay attention to patterns. Repeated “jokes” at your expense may not be humor at all. They can be subtle forms of disrespect, manipulation, and emotional invalidation.

The healthiest relationships are built on trust, emotional safety, and mutual respect—not on making someone the punchline.

You were never meant to shrink yourself so others would feel comfortable.

Never change who you are just to fit in.

The moment you start pretending to be someone you’re not, you begin attracting people who are connected to a version of you that doesn’t truly exist. That means you’ll spend your life trying to maintain a mask instead of living in freedom.

Be unapologetically you.

The right people won’t ask you to become less. They’ll appreciate your authenticity, respect your boundaries, celebrate your growth, and walk beside you—not because you’ve changed for them, but because you had the courage to be yourself.

Authenticity isn’t about being accepted by everyone.
It’s about being true to yourself and allowing the right people to find you.

Your tribe doesn’t require you to fit in.
They simply require you to show up as you are.

This Week’s Woman in Mission (W.I.M.) Spotlight

Michelle Guilbault
Owner of Willow Boutique | Val Caron, Ontario

This week’s Woman in Mission spotlight celebrates a woman who had the courage to leave security behind and build a business rooted in passion, purpose, and style.

Born in Chatham and raised in Chelmsford, Ontario, Michelle Guilbault’s entrepreneurial spirit began early. At just 20 years old, she opened her own hair and aesthetics salon. After welcoming her first child, she sold the business and began a new chapter that took her through careers in mining administration and later into the automotive industry, where she excelled as both a Finance Manager and Sales Manager.

But something was missing.

Fashion had always been part of who Michelle was. Growing up, her father built her an oversized closet because her love for clothes simply couldn’t be contained. That lifelong passion eventually led her to make one of the biggest decisions of her life—walking away from a successful management career to pursue the dream that had always been waiting for her.

In 2021, during one of the most challenging times for small businesses, Willow Boutique was born as an appointment-only boutique. By 2022, Michelle officially opened the doors to her beautiful storefront in Val Caron, creating far more than a clothing boutique.

She created an experience.

From the warm welcome you receive the moment you walk in, to the elegant chandeliers, thoughtfully curated gifts, charming antique pastel fitting room doors, and carefully selected collections from her favourite designers, Willow Boutique is every fashion-loving woman’s dream closet brought to life. Michelle has an incredible eye for timeless, classic, retro, and chic styles, hand-picking pieces that help women of every age feel confident, beautiful, and authentically themselves.

Her mission has never simply been to sell clothing.

It’s about creating a place where women feel seen, welcomed, encouraged, and empowered every time they shop.

Michelle is proof that it’s never too late to bet on yourself. She pushed beyond fear, left behind a secure management career, opened a fashion boutique in a small Northern Ontario community, and did it during the pandemic.

Today, she is not only a successful entrepreneur but also a devoted wife, proud mom of two, loving stepmom to two bonus children, a daughter, and the kind of friend who lights up every room she enters.

When asked what she does for fun, Michelle smiles and says:

“Willow is my fun… it’s not a job! I always say, I work in a closet, shop for a living, and hang out with amazing women all day long! It’s a dream come true! (As cliché as that sounds.)”

That joy is exactly what everyone feels when they walk through the doors of Willow Boutique.

Michelle—affectionately known as “Mitch’s”—doesn’t just help women find clothes. She helps them discover a style that’s uniquely their own.

Thank you, Michelle, for reminding us that when passion meets purpose, incredible things happen. Your courage, creativity, and commitment to helping women feel confident make you a true Woman in Mission.

Congratulations on being this week’s W.I.M. Spotlight! May your story inspire other women to trust their vision, follow their passion, and never be afraid to create the life they dream of.

Willow
