June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, which provides us an opportunity to recognize the history, heritage and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities.

At CMHA WW, we understand that mental health support for Indigenous Peoples must be Indigenous-led, rooted in their culture and not imposed by systems that have historically done harm. We recognize that the mental health impacts of colonization, systemic racism and intergenerational trauma are lived experiences, here and now.

We remain committed to building lasting relationships rooted in accountability and reconciliation. Indigenous-led healing and culturally-safe care is the minimum.

June marks Seniors Month in Ontario, a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions of older adults across the province. This year’s theme, “Ontario Seniors — Let’s Get Moving,” highlights programs that support wellness, social connection, and lifelong learning.

Mental health is just as important in later life as it is at any other stage, yet it is often overlooked. Many seniors experience grief, social isolation, chronic illness, and major life changes that can affect their emotional well-being. Access to responsive community supports is essential to help seniors live with dignity and purpose.

While 2SLGBTQIA+ communities continue to face disproportionately high rates of mental health challenges, substance use and suicidality, these experiences do not define the community.

There is also joy. Creativity. Leadership. Advocacy. Care for one another.

There are people building safer spaces, supporting one another through crisis, advocating for better systems and creating communities where others feel less alone.

At CMHA, we won’t stop working toward a mental health and addictions system where every person feels supported and safe being who they are.

🌟 THANK YOU to everyone who was part of this year’s Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women! 🌟Shopper's Drug Mart Run for Women in support of CMHA WW Run for Women

What an incredible day we shared on May 9th at the Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women at Conestoga College (Doon Campus)! 💜

Because of this amazing community, 1,669 participants came together to raise an outstanding $163,000 in support of women’s mental health right here in our community. We are truly blown away by the energy, generosity, and heart that filled every step of the day.

It was such a joy to see so many of you out walking, running, cheering, and supporting one another. The turnout was incredible and such a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish together.

📸 Relive the day and find your photos below.

There’s still time to make an impact! Fundraising remains open until July 1, so keep those efforts going, every dollar helps support vital mental health services for women in our community.
