The word "deeper" means more profound or meaningful. The word "truths" means facts or principles that are known to be true.

The quote suggests that our journey of learning and growth is not a simple one. We do not simply move from point A to point B. Instead, we go back and forth, revisiting things that we thought we understood and seeing them in a new light.
