The mental health field often uses terms that sound meaningful but lack a clear definition. "Trauma-informed" is a good example.

“Trauma-informed” sounds reassuring. But it might not be what you actually need.

Here’s a distinction that matters more than most people realize:

A trauma-informed therapist has learned to recognize the symptoms of trauma and not exacerbate them. They understand triggers. They won’t push you to talk before you’re ready. They know how to avoid re-traumatizing you. This is the baseline, and it’s genuinely important. Every therapist should be trauma-informed.

A trauma-focused therapist goes further by directly treating trauma. This approach gives you access to specific clinical methods that address complex trauma, working with the nervous system, fragmented memory, identity, and early relational wounds. Here, you benefit from strategies that actively support deep and lasting healing—not just awareness.

Think of it this way. A GP can tell you that surgery is needed and treat you with compassion. But the surgery itself requires a specialist. Trauma healing works the same way. Awareness and kindness matter, and so does having the right clinical tools.

If you’ve spent time in therapy feeling supported but a little stuck, like the trauma is always there in the background but never quite moving, this distinction might explain why.

You deserve more than a space that feels safe. You deserve a space where healing is actually possible.

Hello! We're truly happy you've discovered us.

Our psychotherapy practice is dedicated to supporting those impacted by complex trauma — the kind that develops over time from ongoing experiences rather than just a single incident.

Healing from complex trauma is possible. It may take time, it isn’t always straightforward, and it rarely unfolds as you might expect — but with the right support, people do recover, reconnect with their true selves, and rebuild lives that feel meaningful and authentic.

Our approach is built on the principles of safety, collaboration, and a deep respect for the bravery it takes to seek help. Whether you've been carrying this heavy burden for years or are just beginning to explore your story, know that you are warmly welcome here.

Stay tuned for helpful resources, insights, and information about trauma-informed and trauma-focused care right here. Follow us along, and remember, if you ever want to have a chat, we're just a message away.
