Around here, we are unlearning some “good” behaviours around food. We’ve found that some of them are a lot closer warning signs than achievements.

If you’ve been craving a steadier relationship with food, built one small choice at a time, reach out and we’ll figure it out together.

This misconception is probably the reason it takes people so long to come to therapy to work on their relationship with their bodies.

If you’re curious about what support could look like when we’re not focussing on body positivity, reach out and we’ll talk it through.

The part of recovery no one prepares you for. That conflicted feeling is normal.

If part of this felt familiar, we want to support you.

Questions to ask yourself before you start that diet, or when you think this might be the meal plan that works for you.

Save this to remind you that you can try a different approach. You can work on what’s driving your relationship with food, underneath the day to day choices.

We look at what’s underneath the pattern: what it’s doing for you, what it’s protecting you from, and what happens in the moments that have you reverting to old patterns.

Recovery is about building something sturdier than the rules you’ve come to rely on.

If you’re ready for support that is planned around your own journey and experiences, I’d love to talk about what that would look like for you.

You can look after your body without treating it as a before photo.

Your body has carried you through every single day of your life so far. This is not an affirmation. It’s a fact that probably could use more highlighting.

A little reminder for the next time you find yourself in nit-picking mode: Your body has a job that goes beyond your worries of how it should look today.

Save this for the difficult days.

As a registered psychotherapist with years of experience in practice, I can tell you that body positivity is a very big leap for most people.

So I would like someone out there to know that it’s not the only way to achieve a steady, healthy relationship with your body.

For most people, body neutrality is the more honest place to begin. You don’t need to love your reflection to stop organising your day or even your life around it.

If body positivity never felt quite real or achievable for you, there’s another way in.

So much of disordered eating recovery gets tangled up in guilt and apologies, but I especially want you to let go of these 4.

If you’re looking for support around disordered eating or body image, our practice is here for it.

We are available for in person sessions in Guelph and online sessions across Ontario.

When “biased” is now used to describe any viewpoint that disagrees with the popular approach, it gets so much harder for people to ask for the care they actually want, and just as difficult for providers to offer it without pushback.

Writer and weight-inclusive health researcher Ragen Chastain wrote extensively about this dynamic in her recent article titled Weaponizing Weight Bias.

Weight-inclusive care is an approach grounded in treating the whole person rather than just a number on the scale.

If you’ve been struggling to find that kind of support, or you’re navigating a relationship with food and your body shaped more by outside pressure than by what actually feels right for you, I hope you reach out.
