The Veterinary Technician/Technology Education and Accreditation Program (VTEAP) is looking for a veterinarian to join its committee. Volunteering for this committee provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the education of future veterinary technicians in Ontario.
What’s the general role of a VTEAP committee member?
Review applications from colleges offering a new veterinary technology program and colleges applying for reaccreditation against VTEAP standards.
Make preliminary accreditation decisions, so that a site surveyor can arrange for a program’s site visit, and then provide finalized decisions based on the surveyor’s report following the on-site visit.
Review and consider substantive program changes that happen within a program’s accreditation cycle, to ensure the program remains compliant with VTEAP standards.
What’s the time commitment?
Workload is determined by the number of applications and program changes that are under review. Regular virtual meetings and frequent email communication are expected, as all accredited colleges in Ontario are scheduled for reaccreditation. There are also several colleges that are offering new veterinary technology programs and will be applying for accreditation.
